that's actually not a bad idea. I'm not too sure about okc's cap situation but im assuming gibson leaves okc as an UFA after they get eliminated tuesday. Huge hole at pf for griffin to fill on a playoff team and he gets to play along side WB whether that's a good thing or not
I think the OKC can figure it out if Griffin is willing to join the team. A trade is possible too since LAC could leave nothing if Griffin decides to go somewhere else.
OKC is way over the cap next year. RW: $28.5MM Adams: $22.5MM Oladipo: $21MM Kanter: $17.9MM That's $90MM for just four guys. Presti has really screwed up their flexibility.
For a roster people say is garbage. Adams, Oladipo, & Canter can all play, but you'd want them for roughly half those salaries.
For them to have a shot at someone "worth" one of those salaries they doled out, they'll have to (just as a starting point) trade (and get only picks in return) Oladipo or Kanter. I usually don't bother hating on someone's money, but da-amn, the three guys not named Westbrook make way more cha-ching than they deserve. But at least they're playing. Over in Memphis, Chandsome Parsons hauls down an average of $24,000,000 per season, all the while wearing suit and tie on the bench.
Those three guys are major contributors for Westbrook's triple double record this season. Well worth the money.
I must admit, I hadn't thought of it that way. That's tens of millions of dollars sometimes making shots (Adams) and often bricking shots and then getting out of the way so that Russ can collect the rebounds.
No one gets a bigger pass these days than Glenn Rivers & Christopher Paul. What were they before Glenn Rivers? I don't know. I saw Vinny Del Negro take them just as far.
He would fit in perfectly on offense. He can score inside and out. Would make our offense better. Would make our defense even worse, at best it would suck the same.
His own teammate, Chris Paul, is a better upcoming free agent. Gordon Hayward is also on his level, if not a clear favorite taking health into consideration. Griffin is still a star, but he's not a tier 1 superstar that you ignore all risks for. He missed 20 games this season and the playoffs. He played 35 games last season and missed the playoffs. He's a free agent this summer and his latest injury doesn't seem serious, so his value isn't going to be affected much at all. But if he had another season ending injury a lot of teams would be wary about committing big money to him. Then again, the Knicks signed Joakim Noah to a 4 year/$72mil deal, so what do I know?
He could fit very well in the Amare role. Right down to the same knee problems. But I'd want no part of him. I want players I can count on to stay healthy. We've got enough to worry about already with guys like Bev, Gordon, and Anderson(although presumably Griffin would replace him) on the roster.
I just don't see Griffin leaving La La land. Why would he go to OKC when Westbrook is more then likely leaving when his contract expires.
He could leave the Clippers if they don't offer the max and to get away from Chris Paul. I don't think Blake has any desire at all to return to Oklahoma.
