He needs to WAKE THE HELL UP!!!! It's the freakin playoffs and he's MIA. 111 minutes in 3 gms...15 pts....(0-6 3pt)
Yeah, it's time to move on from Ariza. He's the clear weak link in this starting lineup. His inability to make plays off the catch limits the offense so much. The fact that he can't pump fake, take 2 dribbles and finish in the paint as a 6'8 SF with, declining but still, average athletic ability is puzzling and embarrassing. So on nights he can't shoot straight, he becomes a total liability on offense for this team. Defensively, he has his moments but he isn't locking people up anymore like he did a couple of years ago. He's still smart enough to make the right reads and long enough to play the passing lanes but his quickness is fading. If we can't swing for a homerun like Paul George or Gordon Hayward, I would rather go full offense with a player like Galo to replace him. Wilson Chandler or Iggy would be a nice replacement but we will be in the exact same place in a couple of years. Too bad Dekker fizzled out since December. If he was even half he was back then, I would give him the keys to start at SF easily and look for a good back up. But still too inconsistent.
I'm not sure what's your b****ing for. Ariza is playing well. Ryan Anderson and the team's defense is the problem. But Ariza is the least of the problem.
For the love of god we need to find some way to get Paul George on this team and Ariza+Anderson off of it.
First off I didn't say he was THE problem. He's a starter and he's averaging 37 minutes a game in these first three games. I don't know what series you're watching, obviously not the Rockets, because if you were you wouldn't be claiming he's "playing well".
Are we hating Ariza or Anderson today? End of the season I think it was Lou Williams that was a problem.
He's also likely getting close to a max deal - in other words, he isn't going to be available with our decent but not max cap space.
Ariza has been the most consistent player in NOT making his 3s after Brewer this season. Not to mention his atrocious ball handling and driving skills. He is the Rockets kryptonite. All wise opponents should leave him open and guard everyone else to beat the Rockets.
There's always some idiot willing cough up the dough. Look at the money scrubs like Allen Crabbe Chandler Parsons and Ryan Anderson got. Dude is about to get paid. Maybe not max but way more than I would consider and he's undoubtedly better than the three examples I just gave
Danilo Gallinari might be the best we can hope for (via FA) as a possible replacement. Unless you go to a three guard lineup? Durant/Iguodala stay in GS Wizards match Porter and I don't think Hayward is coming here IMO P.J. Tucker? could be a cheap(er) alternative than the above, where he splits time with Ariza? Again, I see no problem with my boy Ariza. He comes up big defensively when it matters, and comes up with steals at important times. I bet if James Harden made that three at the end and won the game, you wouldn't be b****ing about Ariza. Ryan Anderson is the real problem. If the Rockets win the series, expect Ryan Anderson get owned, abuse and raped by LaMarcus Aldridge.
I think Rudy gay would be a player that will wouldn't like the signing at first but then we would grow to love him
111 minutes??? MDA continues to stick with his 8 man rotation.....why isn't he giving T. Williams any playing time. Looking at Memphis and S.A, both of those teams went deep into their bench today. MDA is wearing The Roxs down. The Rockets need to win tomorrow if they are going to have any chance of winning in Round 2. They need rest
Ariza's D is still solid, he's just much better fit to be a backup player heading into this later stage of his career, especially considering his streaky shooting. He's about to be 32 and will be heading into his 14th season next year. He looks like he still has another 3-4 quality years in him, that being said 35 minutes per game is ridiculous for someone with his milage, at max he should be averaging like 28mpg or less by now. We have plenty of backcourt depth, it's the small ball lineups that rack him up so many minutes. The PF position is where we need the most help.
