4. I think Cleveland wants Mitchell Trubisky or Pat Mahomes. Big arms. Love football. My gut: If it’s Mahomes the Browns covet, they can stay at 12 and pick him. But one bit of warning … 5. The Cardinals like Mahomes. They pick 13th. They might love him. Beware, Cleveland. Arizona GM Steve Keim’s a bold guy. Emily Kaplan’s “24 Hours” piece with Mahomes illustrates why Mahomes is so well-liked in the NFL community. http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/04/17/dan-rooney-dean-blandino-nfl-draft-peter-king
considering OBs past evaluation of quaterbacks, this means we should steer clear of Mahomes right? "THESE GUYS CAN PLAY!"
BoB is going to tell him to go home and tape himself smoking weed so we can get him in the second lol
LOL, no, he's much better than Cardale Jones ever hoped he could be, but he's still a raw prospect that may never be a starting caliber player. That's not worth a first round pick.
If O'Brien like Mahomes, it's time to hitch his wagons. Yes, it'd be a huge gamble, but if he likes him, go for it. Hell, if you have to leapfrog the Browns at 12 to feel comfortable about getting Mahomes, do it. Go for it. Hitting on a guy like Mahomes could set this franchise up for the next 10-12 years. Missing on him may set us back a year or two. If we miss on him, we're not really any further than we have been though. That being said, if we trade up, people can't be expecting him to play from day 1, either. I'm prepared to ignore those numbskulls that think we should. Go get your boy, Bill.
The problem is, I don't see Mahomes being liked by BOB as a good thing. The last time BOB went out and "got his boys" we traded for Mallett and picked up Hoyer.
A broken clock is right twice a day. Let us pray. There is also much more on the line with a high pick being used than a conditional 7th or a small contract. He knows this is make or break for him.
Very good points. If we go with him, I'll certainly give him the benefit of the doubt.....and it'll extend a few years because I know there's no way he'd be ready to play his first season at any point.
Well he won't be the first person to attend day 1 that doesn't get picked in the first round if it happens like that. I know there are a lot of people that like his long term potential, but damn it's risky.
Mahomes is just as raw tbh. His mechanics are jacked and the level of competition he played against is nowhere near the other QBs coming out.
The difference is that Mahomes has arm talent that is light years ahead of Kizer so there's at least that to fall back on. With Kizer....you just have "he looks the part" and you are hoping that one day he learns how to be a QB.
That's true, but there wasn't much available and hose guys knew the system. The whole "we like who we have" thing was obviously coach speak. If he truly likes Mahomes, which who knows if it's true, he's got to go get him. It could cost him his job. It could also secure his future well into his sixties.
Honestly, Kizer reminds me of Osweiler. That's who I'd compare him to in the pros. Right down to the interviews and personality.
