I think there's a building Downtown where you can ride the elevator up to an observation deck to check out the city. San Jacinto monument, Waterfall by the Galleria, if not then maybe they'll enjoy the endless sprawl of shopping centers and restaurants
Well, they came a week too late; otherwise, I would have said to take them to see Corey Brewer's goat.
I always say it in "Houston attraction" threads. If they have any interest in modern art and "culture", The Rothko Chapel is a really big deal. As a bonus, The Menil right next door has a really interesting, if odd, collection of African tribal art and other antiquities housed right next to modern stuff like Jackson Pollock, Man Ray, and Andy Warhol. On the other hand, if they aren't into modern art, their reaction the the Rothko will be, "WTF is this? Your joking, right?"
Rice campus, Museum of Natural Science/Houston Zoo, Alley Theater or Jones Hall, walking tour of Downtown, Ship Channel boat tour, Lakewood Church at Greenway, Pappa's BBQ on Westheimer next to Benihana.

Great Cajun food. Great Vietnamese food. Hell you can get Vietnamese Cajun food. Some decent American food. Great other types of food. Lot's of food.

Hugos Cuchara I'm sure there are more. Plus taco trucks are pretty much everywhere on the southwest side.
Oh also forgot, there's good Mediterranean food here too. Greek/Turkish/Middle Eastern. In terms of food, variety is huge.
