Actually, teams will often waive their right to set off the player's new salary as part of a negotiated buyout. That's one of the main drivers for the player to agree to a buyout in the first place. (My point on the podcast with Clutch was that the Rockets could probe other teams about buyout candidates and perhaps entice a buyout where the team WOULDN'T waive its set-off rights. Unlikely, though, for most of the best buyout candidates.)
Hibbert is always been a very sub par rebounder though, even in his best seasons he was like a 7/8 rpg guy...
Interesting BimaThug, didn't know that. Either way though, with or without offset, the more he signs for the more he makes.
There aren't as many options for us here as people think. 1) We are hoping Bogut picks us over Cavs and Warriors and Celtics. It's not impossible, but to think we're favorites is a little delusional. 2) Matt Barnes I'm almost positive won't be considered; management isn't going to put Harden in that position 3) Larry Sanders has been away from the game and it just recently came out he was arrested in the past year. He may be ok now, hell he may also be innocent, but that's still a red flag We don't need any more backcourt players. We're hoping for Bogut, and when that doesn't work out we may get someone like a Mike Scott, which is cool but that's just for depth, don't think he'll see the floor much.
Not altogether. The priority is getting a big. Matt Barnes isn't even in the picture except as an afterthought if somebody goes down with injury.
He's got him as number two in his list. The list is like this 1. Big X 2. Big Y 3. Big Aa 4. Big Ab . . . . 11. Larry Sanders . . . . 89. Matt Barnes
No, he says Matt Barnes WON'T BE CONSIDERED. He just has that listed as #2 because some people on here have been posing the question about whether or not we'd bring him in.
He actually said Matt Barnes won't be considered. His "list" wasn't his list of who the team wanted, it was his "list" responding to names being mentioned in this thread with specific reasoning.
Andrew Bogut, Larry Sanders, I believe they have to have been waived by March 1st in order to be eligible to play in the playoffs. We can sign them whenever after that however.
Why do people keep talking about Larry Sanders? He seems like a camp invite, not someone you bring in to depend on during the stretch run and playoffs.
