It's a great trade but Williams is getting old. He's good for another one, maybe two, years. I gave it a B.
Objectively speaking, I think this one deserves an A. Lou Will's production relative to what he makes is astronomically high. Keep in mind: Brewer and Lou Will have basically the same contract. Same contract and one is a Sixth Man of the Year candidate while the other looks like his playing days are about over. He's one of the most efficient scorers in the league. You can't be mad about this.
C You add a player that allows you to spell Ariza & Beverley a bit more, plus gets you through the inevitable games Gordon misses. You can also work-in some fun lineups. Williams immediately becomes our 2nd best playmaker in terms of creating offense for himself and others. It's an A+ regular season move, but in the playoffs... probably less of an impact outside of circumstantial situations. Why the C? A 1st rounder is a lot, we already lost one recently for Lawson and we basically lost one when the DMo trade was rescinded. It might come back to bite us. I'm fine with the deal if it's what both Morey & D'Antoni wanted. I'm pumped to put a better team out there, one with a great scoring bench. It just doesn't come off as some insane steal to me.
Dude is 30 or 31. On contract for 7 million this year and next. We gave up Brewer and a last 1st pick. If you grade that as a B, I don't know what an A is.
Good deal for both team. We get a deadly scorer and the Lakers get a a pick in a very deep draft. B+ cause no doubt that it is a deep draft.
Defense does not win championships. Good enough defense with great offense wins championships, otherwise JVG would already have a few rings on his fingers.
So much this. Lou and Gordon are the best bench scorers in the league. Gordon a better shooter, Lou a better penetrator. You just traded Brewers corpse for an 18 ppg scorer at the same salary are you ****ing kidding this isn't an A++++?!?!
Lou Williams feels like a perfect fit to me. The Rockets traded for a guy that plays to Mike D'Antoni's strengths as a coach. I like this move a lot better then acquiring a defensive specialist which would be like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. The Rockets appear to be all in on "The best defense is an unstoppable offense".
Definitely A+ on the court, off the court and in the stands. We no longer have to put up with We now get to see:
