They're a bunch of closet socialists waiting to be born until they find out it's called socialism. If they could only get past the idea that 99.9% of them will never become millionaires, the GOP pipe dream for ereyone

When asked about the individual parts of "getting candy and being raped" we found that several people weren't against the whole thing.....thus it must mean that they secretly like "getting candy and being raped"

The problem with the ACA was that it did nothing to deal with the costs of health care.

That and the individual mandate which is one of the most unamerican things I've ever seen our government pass.

This. Healthcare isn't any more affordable if its just other people paying for it. Health care is still expensive.

Hard to do with an aging and unhealthy population. Costs will rise as people become more unhealthy and older.

That's dumb. Are you equally outrage you have to basic liability for your car? The mandate is why the GOP is stuck and will get killed on this issue. 2018 mid terms are coming and I sure as hell won't let up about healthcare replacements after 6-7 years of b****ing about ACA.

Actually, unhealthy people are cheaper to care for in the long run since they die sooner and more abruptly. Fat, smoking, alcoholics are the cheapest group to care for per year of life. Longer lived people develop other diseases that require lots of hands on care over long periods of time.

I learned this in D&D. I believed that unhealthy people cost more. Someone told me I was wrong and I did some research and realized that I was wrong! #themoreyouknow #learningfromd&d

You're right about the reason healthcare costs will continue to rise. However, comparing healthcare insurance to car insurance isn't very smart. With car insurance you can get better coverage and lower rates for being a responsible driver. With health insurance you get screwed and your rates constantly go up no matter how healthy you are or how little you use the policy.

I don't have to own a car. Many don't and use walking, bikes, public transportation, Uber, cabs, etc. It's only forced on those who choose to own a car.

I HAVE to have health insurance or get fined even if I can't afford to have it or the fine. There is no choice.

    BIG difference.

Yep, this is another reason why comparing health insurance to auto insurance is stupid.

Maybe you can afford it but for the majoirty who don't have health insurance and can't afford a massive ER bill what happens when they are in a severe accident requiring extensive critical care? Who is going to pay the 5 to 6 figure bill? If they can't afford it, they can declare bankruptcy but that means someone has to pay for that bill right? Gee... I wonder if this is one of the reasons why premiums go up for everyone?

So why are you pro-freeloader? These people are raising premiums for everyone because they assume they are indestructible.

Yes the cost is a big issue. That is why it should be single payer.

Are you opposed to medicare? You pay for that already and you can't even use it.

Sounds like you are really against bankruptcy protection. Or are you only anti-freeloader when it comes to healthcare?

I think we should do what they do in China, either have insurance or pay upfront, no pay, no service, you can die outside the hospitals, that would reduce healthcare cost.

Well, I hate that idea. I would have been dead about 10 years ago. An idea that kills me, is a horrible one.

Really only interested in the mandate question. If you say you like all that other stuff, but don't like the mandate that makes all that other stuff possible, I don't know if it should be recorded.

I was being sarcastic. I just do not get how some of the people in this country feels that we should pay for people's emergency medical care, but we cannot have a medicare for all, I guess logic do not work for these people.

You WILL get sick. Driving is not a biological function. What if the sickness you couldn't avoid is cancer? Shouldn't you be insured so that the rest of society isn't forced to bear the brunt of your illness when you DO enter the healthcare system for treatment and aren't turned away because you can't pay because we don't let people die in first-world societies due to illness?

Couldn't you make the same argument about smoking or eating poor foods? You WILL get sick if you smoke, eat poorly, drink alcohol, do drugs, yet we allow these things to be an individuals choice. Why is making health care mandatory the only exception?
