McCaw is now the AD at Liberty University?

LMFAO this is too good to be true...... let's kick him down the road to another conservative evangelical school for employment....... I guess claiming to be a conservative evangelical trumps being a virtuous person...... "Jesus Christ" of 2000 years ago has little to do with what an abomination conservative evangelical "Christianity" has become.

    They should be ashamed.

Report: NCAA now looking into aspects of the sexual assault scandal at Baylor

The NCAA is now reportedly looking into aspects of the sexual assault scandal at Baylor.

Citing a source, ESPN's Outside the Lines reported Friday that members of the NCAA enforcement staff have talked to former Baylor administrators as well as some of the victims of sexual assault by Baylor football players to see if any NCAA violations may have occurred. As a general rule, the NCAA does not comment on inquiries or pending investigations.

The report comes after a court filing in a libel case against Baylor officials by a Colin Shillinglaw, formerly the director of football operations under fired coach Art Briles. Baylor officials indicated in the filing that Briles and his staff attempted to hide crimes and misconduct by football players.

"The football program was a black hole into which reports of misconduct such as drug use, physical assault, domestic violence, brandishing of guns, indecent exposure and academic fraud disappeared," the court filing said.

While the NCAA has avoided getting involved in legal matters since a backlash for its actions in the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State, allegations of academic fraud would definitely fall into the NCAA's traditional role.

The court filing also indicated that Briles personally lobbied then-President Ken Starr with defensive end Tevin Elliott facing suspension over a plagiarism charge.

"The unusual request by Coach Briles triggered concern among top Baylor administrators, who complained to President Starr and among themselves that overturning Elliott's suspension after the appeal deadline would send a message that athletes were above the rules," the filing read.

Elliott, who was already implicated in two alleged sexual assaults, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2014 after being found guilty of two counts of sexual assault.

ESPN indicated that another NCAA inquiry angle could be providing legal aid and advice, which might constitute extra benefits.

Baylor eventually ousted Briles, Starr and athletic director Ian McCaw last year following a university investigation conducted by the Pennsylvania law firm Pepper Hamilton. School officials notified the NCAA of the findings in the investigation and pledged cooperation.

Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby, who did not immediately return phone messages, told ESPN that the conference would wait to see what action the NCAA takes.

"We have some tools at our disposal," Bowlsby said, "but I think there's a right time to use those and a right situation to use them, and it's an ongoing process."

The Baylor football program needs to go away for a while. This whole thing is beyond outrageous. Art Briles, what an embarrassment.

Not sure why the NCAA finally decided that running a rape factory as a side gig for your football program may merit a bit of a look see...they must have been too busy siphoning money from athletes pockets.

Think the NCAA needed to tread lightly after Penn St. Without allegations of academics fraud or some type of improper benefits, it's out of the NCAA's reach.

With that said, Briles' suit was about as dumb as it gets. Lay low for a season and he likely gets a gig somewhere soon. If these texts get out, it opens up a much worse can of worms for both sides.

Has anyone started to look at what may have happened at Briles other stops? I'm guessing he's been helping covering up rape for years.

I say go ahead and tread. Punish. Then, if Baylor wants to snake their way out then let them do so, in public, for the world to see.

Well his only other stop was UH but this went a lot deeper than just him. The entire coaching staff, the Baylor administration and staff, and even Waco PD had a hand in covering this up.

I completely agree with you. Briles should have played stupid and then not comment or file suit. Let some time pass and work his way back up. Honestly at this point, Briles can't even take the Kiffin route and be an OC at a school like USC or Bama. At this point, it is NFL or bust for Briles. His best bet is to become an eventual OC in the NFL and have a career like Norv Turner. It will take at least 5-10 years to get some of the stink off of him and the fact this all involves women at a college facility is going to keep him from ever being a D1 head coach again, and his baggage is too much for a CFB OC. The NFL will insulate him, because he will not have any control over coeds or teenagers.

Within circles, there have been complaints and rumors of Art not being above cheating dating all the way back to when he was at Georgetown and Stephenville. There were complaints that kids played that were out of district or should have been ineligible. At UH there were whispers of minor issues concerning discipline and academics. However there was nothing like rapes or assaults.

I do think it is fair to believe that a 60 year old man didn't over night become dirty and unethical; so it is likely that he has covered things up in the past at previous stops. At the time Briles was the head coach at UH, there was very little coverage and it would have been impossible to be any more dirty or corrupt than Dana Dimel. The administration at UH then didn't put a lot of pressure on Briles to win, and were mostly happy to have the program rebuilt and scandal free.

At Stephenville the rumors were that, academic fraud and steroids.

    "But that recruiting class..."

This article seems pointless. I don't think the writer understands what the problem was with Penn St and what is going on with Baylor. The NCAA over reached by going after Penn St for making poor judgments in such a serious criminal matter. That goes way beyond what their scope of authority covers and part of why those sanctions got rolled back. They also didn't rely much on their own investigations and were dishonest with Penn St about what would happen if they didn't accept the sanctions.

They are now targeting the specific issue of if Baylor allowed players to participate in games who should have been suspended due to university policies and they are taking their time. It's the same as when coaches hide the fact players took money or tattoos so they could still play in games. This is the NCAA's bread and butter and it's way they are going to **** up Baylor's business worse than they did USC. They are taking their time and probably have their lawyers all over how they are approaching the message and penalties to avoid what happened with Penn St. The NCAA is doing the thing that they're good at.

You are going to lose many scholarships, bowl eligibility and forfeit wins. I'll be content with that.
