For most of our lives its been a joke how no one can get fired from a government job. Once a department is started it just continues to grow. Government speak for lowering the budget is reducing the rate of growth of spending which has created a behemoth of expenses that we as taxpayers have to pay for.

The Potential Ax to Government Spending includes:

    10% Labor Reduction
    Funding Reductions for :
    Department of Commerce
    Department of Energy
    Department of Transportation
    Department of Justice
    State Department

Corporation for Public Broadcasting would be - PRIVATIZED
National Endowment for the Arts - ELIMINATED
National Endowment for the Humanities - ELIMINATED
    Minority Business Development Agency ELIMINATED
    Economic Development Administration - ELIMINATED
    International Trade Administration - ELIMINATED
    Manufacturing Extension Partnership - ELIMINATED

Office of Community Oriented Policing Services - ELIMINATED
Violence Against Women Grants - ELIMINATED

REDUCE FUNDING FOR Legal Services Corporation /Civil Rights and its Environment and Natural Resources divisions

    Office of Electricity ELIMINATED
Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable energy ELIMINATED
    Office of Fossil Energy ELIMINATED

Funding over for : Overseas Private Investment Corporation
    Paris Climate Change Agreement
    UN IPCC

Its Time to Cut Some Fat!!!

We as taxpayers and stakeholders pay for governmental bureaucracy as its easy for these politicians to spend other people's money and create new departments lined with friends and donors and pet projects.

Sequestration put tens of thousands of people out of work. It was so awesome and funny.

We should run a poll for Republicans.

Is government part of the economy?

I'm betting a pretty big percentage say no.

The majority of US budget is SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Defense. All the other government programs are not that much of the federal budget. Its like 15% of the federal budget. So cutting 10% of that will be 1.5% of the federal budget.

Are you supporting this? One F-35 would fund all this stuff put together.

Still a decent idea to save some money. I agree that it's nowhere near enough, but you have to start somewhere. Until you start cutting into entitlements and military spending, you won't see the results I want.

Well yeah, in fairness one F-35 is more valuable than all of that.

Yeh dude, violence is so manly. Your avatar: three imaginary violent white dudes. You're living in a fantasy of violent white masculinity. Tell us again how it's worth killing ten innocent people (with an F-35?) to nab one terrorist.

    A F35 is useless.

LOL, what a stupid take. Glad you are here to provide the knuckle dragger perspective.

And yet still more useful than the list above. If nothing else, it'll teach lessons on what not to do or what doesn't work. In that way you at least get some value out of it.

Do you have any actual knowledge of what any of these programs do to make any stamtent on this matter?

You are literally the king of the layman butting in pretending to have 'knowledge'' on this message board. Just stop it.

As a taxpayer, I think most of those cuts are absolutely horrible. What kind of idiots would want to cut the NEA, and funding for public broadcasting.

If we look at how great innovations and civilizations are judged, the arts and science always play a huge part. That is true of Ancient Greece, Rome, Italian and French Renaissance etc. If anything we should increase government spending on those things. The same can be true of American contributions to the Jazz age, etc.

Cutting those things doesn't help make America great again, it makes it less great.

Cutting those things or increasing spending to those things don't increase the quality of the arts or science.....it just increases the amount that you have to steal from the public every year.

Disagree. The most recognized art in the renaissance was from government nobility hiring and paying painters, sculptors etc. to create works of art. Shakespeare was paid by the government to create the great pieces of art that he created. Greek plays, sculptures etc. were also funded by the government as official parts of festivals and the like.

Cutting 10% from the defense budget? That's where I would start.

You might notice that modern society is slightly different than it was during the renaissance or in ancient Greece. I know, mind blowing.

Yes, and it was different in Shakespeare's time than in Ancient Greece. But one of the things that has remained consistent is the government funding of the arts and the quality of society defining work that resulted.
