I just feel they would be so much better off hiring an OC and fixing the offense. Although Crennel deserves the assistant coaching job, him not being hands on with the defense scares me a little. Getting a fully healthy JJ back will help. I mean, why mix things up? The team is just a QB and an OL away.
I wasn't suggesting Marshall for this team; I just think he had at least one good year left in him and he is desperate to get in the playoffs. I like Stills the most from that list. He is pretty much Fuller with an edge and better hands. Jeffrey would cost too much. Pryor is Braxton on a bad team.
I clearly meant one year left on his contract. Given Mcnair's track record I think we all know that he is likely to be offered an extension very soon, but it's still not a desirable spot for a good OC.
If they are committed to Brock, it won't matter who calls the plays anyway. He is far too inaccurate for any pass heavy offense, and O'Brien knows it. To me, this definitely signals the end of the Brock Osweiler era.
I was hoping we would make a drastic move like we did when we brought Wade in for the defense. An innovative X's and O's guy who could really draw up some imaginative plays that play to our strengths and hide our weaknesses. But nope, we just went with the status quo. Guess another 9-7 year is cool with everyone in the organization. When is the Rockets next game?
Romeo Crennel is not bad. He was just in a bad situation in Cleveland when he was the head coach. Even Bill Belichick had terrible years in Cleveland.
I wonder how the coordinator decision goes. Is it strictly the head coach or does the GM get involved? From the way it looked, Wade was a GM/ownership hire and this is a coach decision. I might be wrong though. Gary obviously had no issues with Wade as he took him to Denver.
4-15 record and 2-14 in that one year. He's just a terrible HC He sports a lovely 28-55 record in the two chances he got. Some people are not meant to be the HC and Crennel is one of those
Better roster or not he's simple does have the ability or whatever it is that is need to be a HC. Nothing wrong with being a great DC. I think he's had five seasons as a HC and his record is 28-55. Some people are just not meant to be HCs and Crennel is that which is why he has yet to get another shot.
So this is from September: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...-bill-obrien-take-play-calling-duties-offense Obrien approved all the plays that went into the game so Godsey was technically doing his job correctly if Obrien approved of them. Nothing is changing. Only optimism I have is that when he was limiting his playbook when Oz was in because he didn't trust him to run the plays and there's more to this playbook.
