We pay more into the health care system than any other country in the world, if we funnel this into what ever plan we come up with, I am sure we can cover everyone.

Pray tell... what other mechanisms? Medicare? The program the GOP believes is currently on its own deaththrows and is currently trying to "privatize"? Or settling for state run high risk pools, like the one I used prior to ACA that sold me the most basic heath care coverage for my daughter for $500/month? Or perhaps my daughter should simply go to the ER with every heath related issue?

If only there were institutions for helping those in need.

I wonder why does every other first nation country have such a system?

Your tax dollars go towards paying for the indentured and poor people that make ER visits for healthcare. It costs a truckload annually doing it this method and it doesn't focus towards prevention of poor health. Whether it's through mandated health insurance or covering the uninsured through your tax dollars, either way you're paying. One method would provide preventative healthcare options that are less costly and the other isn't putting a plug into a hole in a sinking ship. You're paying for it either way.

That's not an answer to the question though. What do you intend to give up in order to funnel nearly a trillion dollars more a year into a Medicare type system?

It must e the magical, beautiful program that Trump has promised, and the republican party has been working on for the past ten plus years. Somehow I won't be surprised if tort reform is a key component.

Because they don't have a problem with a focus on taking care of their populace, whereas we have Gordon Gecko lovers (even though in the minority) that think the government is evil.

However, far be it from telling them that there are already social services, like the Police, the Fire Department, the Military and others that we already pay for - hell cut military spending and insure the entire country...job done.

We do not even need to spend extra money, we just need to funnel the money currently being spend into such a program like medicare, of course we will have to cut out many middle men profit and may reduce profit in the medical industry.

Yep, that is the biggest issue the insurance lobby is powerful, and lines the republicans pockets - I mean shouldn't the CHRISTIANS be wanting to take care of their neighbors?

If they are actually TRUE followers of course.

If only there weren't a political party in power that isn't constantly trying to strip those institutions of funding so that they could actually help those in need.

Forcing others to pay money out of their pockets for others without first paying everything out of their own pocket is hypocrisy at its finest. - I mean, shouldn't the CHRISTIANS be against forcing others to do something against their will?

If they are actually TRUE followers of course.

(Here's a bible passage you should read DD. ~ John 8:7)

Charity comes first - maybe if the tithe went to help people instead of building large monuments that Jesus never wanted nor asked for.....they would have a leg to stand on.

As it is, if you call yourself a Christian and are against Universal Healthcare, you are a hypocrite.

It is an insurance, everyone pays, you are not paying more than your neighbors, the risk is shared, seems like the perfect Christian way.

Medicare have not worked so far? It might need some small changes, but it have worked great so far.

If we get rid of medicare now, would any private insurance do as a good job insuring the elderly and provide the same kind of coverage for the same cost? the answer is a resounding no.

Define "worked". It works for SOME....that is true.

I was responding to your assertion that "everyone pays" (they don't), you're not paying more than your neighbors (false...some pay nothing), the risk is shared (define "risk")

By same, we mean the same tax rate, if your income is zero, do you expect people to pay out money they do not have? Even at church, they ask you to pay 10%, not a fixed amount.
