Would be great for the team that he didn't even give a chance or visit to in free agency (us) knocks them out of the playoffs. .....and wins the championship.
KD in this offense would be amazing, but it's not going to happen. Our best chance to snag him was this past offseason and after last year's 41-41 disaster, we couldn't even get an interview. Things would have been different I think if he had the foresight to see how this new revamped team would play, but NOBODY saw this coming so I can't fault him. They showed him a free flowing offense and where he would get open/easy shots and it excited him as opposed our stagnated Harden Iso reliant offense of last year and dysfunctional team chemistry. He'd had enough of that crap with Westbrook.
He would be a great second fiddle to Harden and incredible Anderson replacement, but he doesn't have the mental make up for it. Harden is arguably the best of the 3 OKC guys now, that's incredible to think about.
The first question we have to ask before signing a superstar player is... Harden will handle the ball 90% of the time, will you be ok with losing 50% of your touches? Remember what happened with Dwight? Which superstar do you think will be ok with this?
Ryan Anderson isn't very good, but he's an amazing fit in our system (also Beverley and Ariza). The spacing he provides adds another level to our offense. Millsap at center might actually be a nearly equivalent move until his play drops off in a year or two. If Rockets had the choice between Blake and Millsap, for instance, I would have to think about it.
I think KD is not ball dominant. With the rate Harden is passing, I doubt KD would have any complaint about touches or shots. KD is the best/most efficient shooter in the NBA. Why would Harden not embrace easy assists? His game will fit really well within Rockets offense, which is totally different in DH's case.
I think there is no argument about his shooting ability just like Anderson and Gordon. As Anderson said, he is happy going for a long time without touching the ball because he is being used to space the floor for our general. He is ok because he is not a superstar. KD is on a different league than Anderson and we might not be able to use all of his potential if Harden handles the rock most of the time. We already have the formula on how to best use Harden. We can see the results and it would be silly to change that. IMHO, we would be better off surrounding him with super role players
Can't afford Millsap. He wants $35 million a year. That's why trade talks stalled with Atlanta and they took him off the block.
I think it's the opposite. he didn't consider Rockets because last season was pretty bad. I think most FAs will respect what Rockets have done this season.
Blake and Millsap have very similar offensive statistics other than Millsap shooting way more 3's. Blake has averaged less threes taken in a season than the Rockets have shot in a single game. Millsap is also far superior defensively.
I agree with this. The way our team is setup currently is designed for Harden to be the driving force. It would be hard for another "superstar" to accept a role of setting picks and rolling to the basket or sit and wait for the pass for an open shot. Not to say that incorporating another superstar isn't possible. It's not often a new team gels together this quickly and successfully. Last time I can remember was the original big 3 in Boston and well you see where that got them. What we're doing works and works well. I too at this point would take super role players over another "superstar".
