Don't forget he he's been out the last 2 weeks with an arm infection on his throwing arm. Not to mention Assweiler stealing all the reps prior. For not having seen an NFL field in 2 years I thought he played exceptional
And what a name for a QB.....SAVAGE !! He may be good, he maybe TJ Yates (also better than Oshitter).....but at least he is finally getting a chance. DD
There was a bunch of BS being slung yesterday. The whole "we play whoever we think gives us the best chance to win" and "how much a player makes doesn't factor in to who plays" is so transparently false. There's no way Brock lasts as long as he did if he wasn't making $17M. McNair knows it, Bob knows it, we know it, but they won't admit it. Both even said "we have 3 good QBs", still refusing to admit Brock was a mistake after Savage came in and made Brock look like the incompetent QB we all knew he was. So when McNair talks about it being OB's call at QB, I don't exactly believe him. You can't blatantly lie to me in one breath and expect me to believe the next thing you say.
Do you honestly expect them to say anything else? What if Savage comes out, throws 3 straight picks, and fumbles the ball. How do you go back to Osweiller after saying he was a mistake? That is just being a coach and owner. I don't think any coach would come right out after benching someone and say they sucked or he was only in the game because we pay him a lot... Honestly it's like you guys really think BOB can just say this stuff..
No, but some of those lines were unprompted. Just say Savage played well and leave it at that. You don't need to go out of your way to say something everybody already knows isn't true.
I saw him go through multiple reads on many attempts (something rare for this season)... was more surprised the O-line was blocking enough to allow him to do that. (actually, Bradley completely abandoned his gameplan to stack the box/apply pressure once Savage came in... so the O-line definitely had it easier, in addition to Savage not dropping too far back in the pocket).
Jaguars stacked the box (some due to formation) and blitzed Savage early. Texans weren't phased, then JAX adjusted. They respected Savage after a few snaps. It's very possible the o-line (and all the Texans) played harder once Brock left too. Hope..... call it human nature. Savage showed plenty poise which is the biggest difference individually vs Brock.
