I'm confused as to why he signed the Nets deal... Did BJ not read the contract or isn't very familiar with the CBA? Seems like something a sports agent would do.

You can't call it a "$6 million difference". There is no "difference" if those are the terms that you SIGNED. That's not how contracts work. Clowns.

As some (I believe Bima was the first to point out) pointed out yesterday this comes down to the shock that the contract contained NETS ONLY incentives.

This AGAINS comes down to BJ's incompetence as a sports agent for not understanding the basic language of the contract. They HAD TO KNOW the Rockets would likely match so they needed to do their homework in that case, and NOT SIGN the Nets offer sheet in the first place.

How D-Mo hasn't fired him yet is beyond me. Also he's publicly asking for teams to tamper by offering another offer while D-Mo is now under pending contract with the Rockets. Something the league will surely have to slap his hands for. Its public now so you'd think they MUST act now.

 

Easy for us to say that if we don't know what the incentives are. For example. NJ is 5-15 right now. IF one of the incentives is to make the playoffs, then if they get there because of DMo then it makes sense to give him bonus. We are almost surely going to make the playoffs with or without him. Why pay for it if he does not deserve it?

BJ's is bad at his job, which includes negotiating and understanding contract terms, and is costing DMo money at this point. Regardless of whether the Rockets decide to honor those incentives, DMo should fire him.
