If by "hold him hostage" you mean "adhere to the CBA and the rules that are allowed to us", then yeah, let's go with that one.

I'm all for keeping the peace and trying to work it out but I also think it would be funny to make him look like a b**** and make him an example to the nba

    Whichever is cool

Where is the "Bury him alive in cement on a construction site" option?

Yea....think "Goodfellas" and the Joe Pesci character.

If D-Mo doesn't want to be a professional and report to the Rockets, get a physical and just fight for his rights, he can go.
Not going to lose sleep over him, especially being 14-7.

There is a 4th option, but it would set a bad precedent.

Morey could up his offer a bit, to make DMo happy and sign him.

Again, this is NOT something I am saying they SHOULD/WOULD do, but if they REALLY wanted DMo it would be a sign of extreme generosity on their part.

Just cut him loose. He is not that import of a player for us to loose temper on. Tell him good luck and let's focus on this young exciting season. We have so many young pieces that can use minutes for development.

The hate for BJ Armstrong is deserved. I hope they put DMO on ice and show the rest of the league that BJ is an idiot. I saw him quoting BJ as well and it was disappointing.

The Rockets don't have to be vindictive to Dmo, but they do need to set an example that other agents know they can't just hold out from camp and screen calls and dictate the terms of restricted free agency.

Based on the poll, almost 80% of you want to FORCE him to report and play for a team he doesn't want to play for... Yeah, that'll be great for this team's chemistry.

It's clear he got terrible advice from his agent. The team is better off to just be done with DMo altogether - it doesn't do the team or DMo any good to be forced into a relationship that's already damaged.

Could the Rockets do a sign and trade with Brooklyn still? If so, I might consider that the best option. If I'm Houston, I'd essentially hold him hostage until I got what I felt was adequate value in a sign and trade with the Nets. And if Brooklyn wasn't willing to offer anything of decent value, I'd just waive the physical and fine him until he's willing to suit up.

The best way to deal with this is to treat it as if the latest refusal never happened. Sit on the deal until he reports, and neither punish him for it nor reward him with minutes. Let D'Antoni find how much playing time he deserves without management interference or consideration of the hard feelings. At that point, either he's productive and we move on, or he's toxic and he gets benched and is only hurting himself in regards to his next contract.

So not exactly "hold him hostage", and not necessarily involving fines, but that's probably the closest action to describing my thoughts.

Exactly. It's obvious he doesn't want to be here. A disgruntled player could be toxic for the chemistry of the team. We should know by now how important chemistry on a team can be (example last year). Just let Dmo's ass go.

I'm really curious to hear some perspective on how "fining him until he suits up" benefits the team?

Is the overall goal to say "F-you Dmo!" or is the goal to put the best players out on the court that have the best chemistry together and give you the best chances of winning without off-court/contract/hurt feelings distractions?
