The timing of the Trent Miles firing is interesting, given that the school just announced the other day that they are purchasing Turner Field and will convert it into a football stadium. It sounds like they're looking for a hard reset of their program and it wouldn't surprise me if they try to lure a big-ish name. Whether or not they get that big name remains to be seen. Butch Davis at FIU would be a fun experiment on a couple of fronts. For one, I've been itching to see Butch Davis as a head coach again just to see how he does. He's credited as the architect of those dominant early-00s Miami teams, and that's a huge feather in his cap, but it's also not like he was setting the world on fire at UNC. Also, FIU has long been one of those programs that people seem to think has much more potential than what they've shown on the field, and it looked like they might be getting there under Mario Cristobal, but then the FIU administration made the perplexing decision to fire Cristobal after one 3-9 season and then replaced him with Ron Turner, which clearly did not turn out well. I just think it's one of those situations where we would learn a lot about each party.
I think Morris will be a good hire. SMU is a tough, tough place to win at. With Baylor's resources he can put together good-to-decent seasons regularly.

Chad Morris to Baylor done according to a couple of folks. Good hire imo.. has taken a 1 win SMU team to being respectable in a short span. Strong Texas ties and young enough to be a very long-term solution in a perfect world
Could you please cite sources? EDIT: Found it. Could be a good connection to Central Texas recruits

Hearing Chad Morris has now agreed in principle to become Baylor's next head coach. Sorry Brando.. twitter is blocked at my job. I posted that source in the BU football thread and there have been others but Morris himself said he has not been contacted by Baylor. A lot of smoke.. i think this looks likely
I'm hearing Ed Orgeron will be announced at LSU at noon today. If so, Herman loses leverage and Texas gets a little cheaper price, as LSU was the main competition for his services Smart of LSU to announce this prior to Texas, to prevent people from thinking Orgeron is a fall-back choice...
@FootballScoop FootballScoop can confirm LSU is hiring Ed Orgeron as their permanent head coach http://FootballScoop.com/The-Scoop
Yeah... or he never spoke to LSU during the season. It all is based on a report that has been discredited and now everyone that reported the report is in total spin control. Herman may very well leave but it is highly doubtful that he was parading around the country speaking to Phil Knight, LSU on Thanksgiving and any other schools that are click bait.
Good decision by LSU. He did a really good job after he became interim HC and can now focus on maintaining current players and recruiting.
