Do you think the Texans fans' not wanting another Carr in Houston was a huge mistake?

Prescott doesn't count since no team, not even the Cowboys, thought that much of him. The jury is still out on Jimmy G. The only one you're left with is Carr and I think everyone can understand their reluctance. The whole league passed on Carr too.

Every team in the NFL passed on Dak four times - four! - including the Cowboys (who preferred several QBs, including Connor Cook, over Prescott).

Carr is the one legitimately big whiff, although... the Texans were in a wholly unique situation with him. But this retroactive bullshit of lining up all the good QBs and chastising the Texans for missing on all of them is not productive. Prescott looks great; he also has the best offensive line in football and a game-breaking running back; he would have neither of those advantages here.

True; sucks that we brought in Prescott for a visit and the DUI must have taken him off our draft board

Looking back sure it was regrettable to not choose Derek Carr over Xavier Su'a-Filo but you can never tell with QB prospects, they typically take years to develop and no draft pick is always a sure thing. I don't think it had that much to do with Carr's last name, it was more so McNair thought we could win with the current QB on the roster ( Fitzpatrick). The direction they wanted to go with the team was more of the Seahawks model, defense first and then only have a QB who could efficiently manage the game. I think there's way too much expectation placed on Brock right now to succeed, I would still consider him a rookie starting QB because he's only had a few games last season when he was the starter.

Don't forget he has to learn a new offensive system and new recievers to play with. He's shown he can manage the game fine if he has confidence in his throws, we all know he has the arm to throw those deep passes, he really needs to focus on making better decisions and sometimes you just need more game based experience in order to build on it. I really wish we had a more established QB on our team but we don't so suck it up and enjoy the bumpy ride! o_O

Filo hasn't been this awesome offensive lineman for us either though. We missed out on a ton of talent in the 2nd round

He would of clearly been a great pick, but there was no way it would have worked. His 2014 season was pretty terrible - and I can't fathom how Texans fans would have reacted, especially after seeing all of the idiots coming out of the woodwork when we're 6-3, and when BoB has an oveal record of 24-17.

Oh come on, you know EXACTLY how Texans fans would have reacted. It would have been nothing but dumb and angry nonsense.

Carr effigies would have been burning 24/7 on Kirby and Fannin.

He threw for 21 TDs against 12 interceptions on a 3-13 team. Was it great? No, but it wasn't terrible. I don't remember anyone arguing he looked like a bust. He was a true rookie, and most people thought there was quite a bit of promise.

Brock isn't even at that level this year.

Brock has twice as many wins, with 7 games still to go. You realize the point of playing is to win the game, right? Brock is 11-5 over his first 16 starts.

    Why no win-loss comparison though?

    Texans' record, 2014-2015: 18 wins, 14 losses.
Raiders’ record: 10 wins, 22 losses.

I would rather have 7 winning QBs than 1 losing QB but I'm sure many on here would disagree.

Raiders are better than Texans this year, but just barely thanks to the defense

Karl Joseph, who was on the Texans short list of picks, is doing really well and of course Mack is helping them. There were a couple of games the Raiders should have lost especially that Bucs game.

    Man... I mean..... man.... Wow.

The Texans' endless cavalcade of mediocre QBs won because they play in a terrible division and have an above-average defense. I feel fairly confident that they would have won roughly the same number of games breaking in a vastly superior QB. And I guarandamntee you, that young QB is going to win way more games than the next endless cavalcade of mediocre QBs this franchise trots through here, beginning Monday night.

    That's just.... Com on...

The Texans have been winning against a #1 pick (albeit one year injured but healthy this year), a #2 pick, and a #3 pick at Quarterback in their division. Part of the reason they have is because of their draft picks on the defensive side. As of right now, the Raiders have had less wins and have lost the only head-to-head matchup. The referenced tweet was not referencing the future but the past. So, yes, I would take a team with 3 winning seasons (presumably) two playoff appearances over one winning season (presumably) and maybe one playoff appearance. If Carr keeps improving steadily and the Raiders become perennial contenders, that changes everything. As of right now, I'm taking winning over losing.
