That should just about do it. This hurt but losing 3/4 to terrible Angels team is what really hurt. I wouldn't mind Hinch gone, but who is out there to replace him? Team needs to add a few impact players in FA and trade for at least one arm.
I don't think I've ever been this disappointed while watching the Astros as I have been these past 5 games. Such a disappointing end to the season.
Makes me mad that this team actually went on the road, went 5-1, they come back home and you expect them to take care of business against scrub teams and they're just stinking the whole joint losing 3/4 to the Angels and now continuing to lose yet again. Worthless! What's worse? Astros management probably won't do a damn thing to make this team better for next season.
Damn.... fell asleep thinking we won. We already needed a miracle, but playoffs are officially done. Valiant effort, but we started too slowly this season. After that bullcrap, we needed too much to go perfect to see the postseason. Keuchel, Giles, and Gomez (in that order) were the Astros' biggest problems this year..
how? seems like it'd have been a weird assumption at almost any time yesterday disagree. Keuchel, lack of OF bat (incl Gomez, Colby), lack of DH bat (Gattis there, White, Reed), lack of 1B bat (White, Reed), Giles/Harris/Luke while in the 9th role. in that order
Going into extras. Everyone's confidence was high. Was keeping the blame to individual players. Of course Colby and Gomez is worse than only Gomez. Giles deserves blame for everyone's 9th inning IMO. DH and 1B is up there too.
Season is over!! Our so start cost us the playoffs, however with a few key moves in the off season we should be back next season.
Oh but he can really work a room and remind everyone he graduated from Stanford, he isn't some dope like Ozzie Guillen. He understands the modern player and all the analytics that go into............ still waiting for someone to show the analytics for going to Hoyt when the season is on the line, or not pinch hitting for Castro early in the season at key points of the game, and then doing it again late in the season. Hinch tends to wear out his welcome after 4 years.
it seems pretty foolish looking back at the giles trade at this point. Trading all that talent, perceived or actual, for a closer who can't even close, regardless of "team control" simply looks like a misappropriation of assets. One has to think VV, Appel, et al could have easily been turned into an everyday 1B, LF or MOR starter. That package certainly could've netted us a player like Lucroy. Hell, VV's era is better than any one of our current starters! Setting the bar pretty low mind you but still. Granted we all drank the koolaid after last season but we're also not the ones getting paid to make those type of decisions. All that said this team is 1 bonafide ace and a bat or two away from being right there so all hope is mot lost. I will, however, eviscerate the FO if the rangers somehow win the title with the help of lucroy, beltran and Gomez. That is unforgiveable IMO.
