So before the season began I put a bit (won't say how much) on over 88.5 wins. The number dropped over the course of a little time and i added on over 87.5....so need 88 wins to pretty much push, 89 wins to WIN 88 would take 10-4 89 would take 11-3 Anyone think I have any chance here?? I had just about written it off but if we get another W today.....
It would be nice to see Astros make the playoffs, but I'm a baseball fan, I don't see them having the starting pitching to go deep. There are a few complete and competent teams vying for title shots this years (Astros have some big holes); if anybody else wins it, just goes to show why we play the games. If the Astros go 8-4 on these final 12 games, I'd say they finish the regular season strong. And an 8-4 record shouldnt get them in the playoffs. To have a shot at the playoffs they need to reel of at a minimum a 10-2 record. So they just have to win, learn, and feed the chemistry. And as fans we must realize we are watching a really special young core growing before our eyes. Playoffs and World Series rings all look pretty bleak at this time, but not so in these years coming.
My guess at Astros odds of making playoffs based on how they do these last 11: 11-0 99% 10-1 95% 9-2 80% 8-3 60% 7-4 50% 6-5 30% 5-6 10% 4-7 1% 3-8 0% 2-9 0% 1-10 0% 0-11 0%
You think there is a 90% chance that the Tigers lose 3 games with that cupcake schedule or that the Blue Jays lose 3 of their next 6 games? no.
Losing 2 at home to the LAA is not how I expected the Astros to start their final 10. Meanwhile the other WC contenders are actually playing like playoff teams. I wish this team would stop sucking me back in, giving me hope, only to **** the bed. It's happened 3x in the last 6 weeks or so.
