Well the guy gets a couple things confused.

First he talks about harden from previous years. No one disputes harden prior to 2015-16 was a great player. Before the weight gain he was the #2 MVP and players choice MVP, first all NBA team (twice). No one is arguing about those years, its last year where he didn't make the all NBA team and didn't deserve to imo.

Second he says harden improved his stats across the board. Then he mentions win shares and per in a different context. But his win shares and per declines last year. Not to mention regularized plus minus, defense, turnovers, shooting percentages, effort, leadership, etc. So that's just factually wrong.

Well we've seen him in shape. He was two time first all NBA and #2 in MVP voting. Probably the third best player in the NBA two years ago, who knows where he'd be if he stayed in shape, can only speculate because a bunch of other guys got better (Kawhi, curry, Westbrook) and probably harden would have gotten better too given his age.

There were always rumors about Jordan staying out late to gamble. And Barkley was always kinda fat. And Shawn kemp developed a drinking problem in his later Seattle years but still put up some pretty amazing statistical years.

Tmac was also pretty lazy. I think Jvg mentioned he didn't really work on his game much.

That's not really special to watch, just frustrating really because he could have been as good as two years ago

I don't know how many steps back he took, but Brewer was playing for the visitors every game except for when we crossed the border to Canada.

JB wasn't even coaching... He just got on 2K... Turned settings and subs to manual and then proceeded to not do ****.

DMo was an injury handicapped fool... Could barely do anything close to what he was able to the year prior when he was our second best player... His best play of the season was falling down and creating a 'wet spot' that took out Wardell.

Smoove? Once we got him back from LAC.. he reverted to the Detroit Smoove full time.. Poor shot selection, poor decision making, and boneheaded plays... Without the fluke stretch of balling out.

D12 became even more a shell of himself physically.
Showed inconsistent effort on both ends and openly admitted to quitting at times..... He was even worse in the post than years previous if that's possible.

Ariza... Regressed defensively and continued his extremely inconsistent.. hot/cold perimeter shooting... That literally switched month to month.

Terry... After a really reliable shooting year in 14-15.. he became very inconsistent at the one thing he's good for.

Bev... Took a little step back defensively, but really continues to improve that 3pt stroke... Probably the guy I'm the least down on after last season.

But the casuals, the low ball IQ watchers, and Harden haters will gloss over this all and put it on...

James being a horrible leader... Killing chemistry(cuz dudes forgetting how to play ball doesn't do that)... And him showing a complete lack of effort and what they perceive as being a selfish stat padder.

Just dont understand how houstonians can be so in love J.J. Watt a guy who leads his team to losing records in the worst divisions in football year in and year out, over a guy like Harden who plays in the toughest divison and has crap teammates

Leave JJ Watt out of this and it's doesn't make any damn sense to compare the two.

    1. Two different sports

    2. JJ does not have any kind of effect on the Texans offense. James can effect the game on both sides.

    3. JJ gets a lot of love because he doesn't take plays off. He give his all even when he's battling three injuries at the same time.

    Bad comparison

And you are wrong, both players are loved and appreciated here in Houston.

He was actually saying that Harden's blame is completely wrong and misplaced.

Some are idiots who are blinded by efforts over results. I remember this one "fan" who claimed he rather see the Rockets try hard and lose than not try as hard and win more and had no issues with us missing the playoffs. It was sad. Harden is a top 5 player in the league and infinitely better than players like Klay. There shouldn't even be a "discussion" about this.

In Watt's defense however, he literally plays a position that limits the player's overall impact over the game. That said, Watt has been such an transcendental talent, that he's probably won us a few games from a position where such impact would be normally impossible.

The only reason there is a discussion is because Klay is on the Warriors. Put him on the Nuggets or some team, make him the top option and playmaker, and there is no discussion.

The title of his video is click bait. It is really a video about how he was, in his opinion, crapped on last season despite putting up monster numbers. He does compare him to others in the past, but the focus of the video seemed to be about comparing his first years in Houston to his last one.

I, for one, agree with him though. The team regressed in pretty much every way except Harden. I griped about him too, but it was obvious everything around him was worse. I can't tell you how many times I b****ed at my wife about how the team was unstoppable when Dwight would run the PnR. PnR with James, JSmoove, ANYONE. It was so easy.

The video had some good points, but probably could have said them in three minutes instead of thirteen.

Basically, the case for Harden as underrated can be stated pretty simply as:
    • Harden is the top scorer by volume in the league since he became a Rocket
    • Harden puts up supplemental counting stats comparable to the greatest SGs ever
    • Harden's turnovers are middle-of-the-road relative to his enormous usage*
    • Harden carries the biggest load of any current NBA player (possible exception pending for 2017 Westbrook)
    • Harden's defense has not kept his teams from having a good overall defense when his teammates are dialed in
    • Players putting up comparable numbers to 2016 Harden have almost always been first team all-NBA (even when on a bad team), but there was no outcry about Harden's missing all three teams

Whether he's underrated depends on what your perception of his rating is. If the argument is "he's really equal to Lebron, Curry, or Durant", I would disagree. If the argument is that he's a top 7 player who deserved a 2016 All-NBA slot and didn't get one because of his image problems, then sure.

*Kobe, Wade, Kidd, Barkley, Magic, Isiah, and Iverson have all had turnover rates higher than 2016 Harden in a season

    just curious..

you think 2017 OKC coaching staff and roster without Westbrook is not better than 2016 Rox coaching staff and roster without Harden?

you think curry, durant, or any of the 3 players you ranked before harden not named lebron would have taken rockets coaching and roster past the 2nd round?

LBJ probably could have since 1) it's LBJ and he can play every position, including Howard's 2) he would have beat down Howard's pansy ass until D12 shut his mouth and played hard. Curry would have had a pretty bad year trying to run PnR with a big who didn't want to run the only damn thing he was good at. Durant I would argue is not better than Harden. Definitely not a better defender IMO.

Dude puts up stats for sure.....and this team was a pile of crap last year outside of his efforts (more offensively than defensively).
