Week 1 is so hard to pick. You never know what team is really good/bad. And there's always the good team that starts slow and the bad teams that fool fans by starting hot. Week 1 in suicide pick is always the hardest for me. For instance, i am picking Green Bay over Jacksonville but how surprised will we be if the Jags win that game? What if Cutler has a really good year the Texans line can't make running lanes for Lamar?

At the end of the day the dominant matchup is our defense against their offense.

    They aren't going to score.

New OC and lost their star RB.

    I'm expecting a blowout.

I'm not saying it will happen and I know it is unlikely, but what if the Texans take a step back? What if they have a bad week? Last year in week 1, the 49ers beat the Vikings 20-3. The Vikings ended up having a really good defense and won the division while the 49ers bad a top 10 pick in the draft.

Then, in that case, it will be much like several Texans seasons where they've gotten off to a slow start with hopes of in-season improvement and eventual success (much like last year).

That's why it is hard to pick a winner this week. Well, not hard, but it is not a lock like some here are saying.

Yeah but the Vikings weren't a very good team last year, they were an incredibly flawed team with a superstar RB and a good defense. Adrian Peterson was almost their entire offense and he struggled so the team only managed one FG for the game. Since the defense was on the field the whole damn game they couldn't make it a shutout and that was their only hope.

The Texans are a much better team this year than the Vikings. Better QB, better WR corps, better defense, hopefully not too much less from RB.

Please people, stop using the Vikings as a point of conversation in this forum. It's a bat signal for Bobby.

Stop whining, I'd have pointed out the error in that thinking no matter what flawed team they used for an example. Am I seriously going to have to wait till your buddy is out of the league to comment accurately about the Vikings without this nonsense?

And Bobby making a comment is a bat signal for pot-stirrers...

If we could just not bring up Hoyer, Mallett, or any other team not playing the Texans that week that would be awesome.

I am truly scared Watt rips Cutler in half on the first play of the game and Hoyer comes in. If we win, Bobby has a field day, if we lose, everyone else has a field day. Just let it go guys.

If Hoyer plays, every Texans fan will be elated.....well Mr. Clutch won't, but everyone else will be happy about the Texans winning easily.

OK, we won't bring up any player he has been wrong about.

The problem is it's a very long list

Oops! My bad. In my defense, he has been blocked for a while so I haven't kept up with what he rambles about. I should have just said "last year a good team with a dominant defense got their butts kicked in week 1 by a lottery team that was a huge mess"

How were the Vikings not good? They lost in the playoffs against the Seahawks bc of a missed 27 yard FG. 99% of the time, they would have advanced in the playoffs in that situation. When was the last time an 11 win team was "not very good"? Also, they won in Green Bay on the final week of the year to cement their division title.

Also, by your logic, the Broncos sucked too bc they got even worse QB play...and had worse RB play. They basically just survived bc of their defense and oops, they won a Superbowl. But they arent very good because of all their other weaknesses.

We'll either win in week 1 or we won't but signs do point to a win. That's how I make predictions.

Can someone make a week 1 thread.

Tired of seeing this TC thread. I want to know every time I look on here how close we are until kick off.

They were a very flawed team that won and lost based on AD being otherworldly and their defense pitching shutouts. The Broncos were a much more well rounded team, with the weapons to make up for less than stellar QB performance.
