So my brother in law had his Samsung 7 Edge phone literally explode in his pocket today. He was apparently in his truck on the drive thru and it just burst, ripped his pocket open and his pocket was on fire. He contacted Samsung and they just mentioned they've never seen that happen and gave them a service ticket and have yet to get back to him. You would think they would care about having phones out there that can explode at any moment. At this point i doubt he wants a replacement that is the same phone. Any thoughts on what to do to draw attention to this from the manufacturer or phone company? It's infuriating having something like that happen and the company treats it like a typical technical support issue. Will post pics of the phone soon.
Say we do want to go that route or even if we don't. What is the first step? Police report to make it official, seems kind of dumb but not sure how else to authenticate the fact that the phone just blew up.
Look up a products liability lawyer and call them for a free consult. They should take the case for free and take a percentage. Don't do anything with the phone until you clear it with the lawyers.
Here is a picture of the phone. spoilered for size. Spoiler <a href="http://s1120.photobucket.com/user/wreck2k9/media/Samsung_3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l489/wreck2k9/Samsung_3.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Samsung_3.jpg"/></a>
It's not likely you guys will get too much btw, because there isn't much in terms of "damages." If a lawyer does decide to take the case, the only way you get tons of money is if they find out that Samsung was negligently or purposely producing phones with problems.
Likely not worth it. Didnt find any other instances of this happening. We just want a replacement or credit or something. It was purchased in march.
Maybe they really havent seen that happen, so why would they make a big deal out of it? You don't want to create fuss over one phone and from their end, they can't really just believe you either, unless there is video...I'm sure people call in to try to get replacements for all kinds of made up reasons..
Me and my wife just got upgraded to s7 edge phones for 1 penny each atime Target. I can't imagine if this happens to any of us while we're playing it on the headset VR staring at it. I would contact the news station, they will be all over this in a second
That's the thing. I mean this ripped up his pocket and burnt his leg a bit. Imagine if he had it next to his ear?
Every year there are stories of these phones or batteries in the phones catching on fire or even exploding. When are these phone companies going to be held liable?
