He cares about fame and money. It won't help your team win. Pre-money parsons was a hard worker and great teammate and chemistry guy. Post money parsons will be no good for you
If healthy he'll give you a nice secondary playmaker, and a great Forward to play on the perimeter with Gasol & ZBo. Most people are scared by his knee, but likely worth the risk for Memphis. A healthy core of Conley/Parsons/Gasol could be sneaky good.
For the first two years, you will see an uptick in female fan interest. But by the third year, just based on his attitude and everyone in his family, the inevitable weight gain will begin in earnest. Especially eating in Memphis, mind you. Chandler Portions on his way/weigh. On the court, you won't get a lot. Back and knee issues don't get much better with age. But he'll still be one of the better 3's you've had in a while. Worth a couple or three extra wins if you keep everything else on the team the same.
•Role player who thinks he's a franchise player. •Will probably tell you he was a big Grizzlies fan growing up; wore a [Abdur-Rahim/Gasol] jersey growing up •Will have him for the regular season but probably not the playoffs.
His friend who said to Morey "Pay the man" when he was with Cuban has to be the most annoying hanger-on ever.
He would have helped greatly with that 2012-13 team. Now....not so much. If they are health they can be 6-8 seed but their bench isn't that good. Conley Parsons Allen Randolph Gasol Isn't bad at all. Or you replace Allen with ??? and have him come off the bench. The bench is the problem and the major concern is injury. They are already on the downside of their chance to be a contender. Still hope they can become that team from 12-13 season again. Reminded me of the 2000's Pistons.
He's not loved around here anymore - but he was when he was on our team. If his knees aren't an ongoing issue I think he'll really help Memphis. As was mentioned before, he's a nice secondary play maker. High basketball IQ. Solid third offensive option. Decent shooter. And he's been known to play good defense on occasion.
Parsons is a pretty good glue guy on offense and below average on defense, he's basically a role player on the cusp of becoming a star. On offense he can pretty much plug any hole you have on the team, he's a good ball handler, passer, shooter and play maker however in all the games I've seen him play I've never seen him dominate a solid defender offensively, basically he always disappears when he's being guarded by an Ariza-level defender and above. When he was a rookie he got PT by defense and hustling for put back dunks but unfortunately once he started developing his offensive game he kinda' stopped hustling, maybe if the Memphis coach can inspire him he can be a complete player for the Grizz. If he's healthy I think he can be pretty good on a Memphis team that has a lot of good defenders. The big question is IF he can stay healthy, during his last year in Houston he suffered from a variety of chronic injuries like ankle issues and back spasms and his last two years in Dallas always ended with a season-ending injury. It's a high risk-medium reward gamble for the Grizz and I'm so glad the Rox aren't the ones paying him.
Yeah Conley at 130M and Parsons at 94M. Paying 200M for two players who aren't massive needle-movers these contracts are gonna look so bad mid-season. I'd rather kick the can and take a 1 year salary dump from another team for assets than get contracts like these.
