Money is not an issue with KD. He's getting paid no matter what and thanks to the expanded salary cap, every team will be able to throw even more money at him. But lost in this conversation is the fact that KD himself said that his decision will be a basketball decision. He's looking to win a title now, not two or three years down the road. Which is why I find all of this talk and hope of the Rockets somehow being an attractive destination for him to be a waste of time. As you pointed out: this team as currently constructed is not attractive to someone in his situation. It would appeal to someone like a Whiteside who's simply looking to get paid but not someone who yearns to win a championship.
I think this reason is being way overlooked. Kd is leaving because he doesnt want to go through this a whole another year.
ESPN just had a "breaking news" on their ticker that Durant is going back to OKC barring an unbelievable pitch from one of the remaining teams.
i took that as he did not enjoy the year full of speculations and questions on what hes going to do when hes a FA, especially while the season is going on. So hes not going to sign a 1 + 1 just to go through it again immediately. So I don't see where he's leaving comes into play. His next contract is going to be a long term one not 1 +1 wherever that may be and it still could very well be back in OKC.

Which is why we are meeting with Bazemore in addition to Horford. Cause those 2 are super close. Ken lures Al lures Kevin.
Maybe the plan is: Sign Baze and Horford -> trade Ariza and Brewer (with filler if necessary) to create enough room for another max...?
Interesting... i think that could potentially work. Wonder who the other near max player would be. Highly doubt that Durant would be willing to sign for a discount.
Yep, if they're using Baze as Horford bait, with the intention of Horford & Harden being 2/3rds of the Big 3 bait for KD, then they'd have to shed some guys to make space for Baze. It's not a dream! The front office is actively working this. A little big of Faith and a little bit of Patience.....
This would be amazing, i know i must not be positive though, don't want to fall in depression later  but... Capela Horford Durant Baze Harden would be... Spoiler just too good to be true
