He's not elite, but he's pretty solid. They actually used him to guard big 3's like LeBron and Carmelo. Beasley was pretty bad from what I saw. But that could have him being away from the NBA for a while. Where are you getting that Beasley is a better rebounder? Neither is good but PatPat has a higher career rebound rate.
Maybe they are still concerned about Beasley's mental stability. Patterson is not spectacular in any way. But he is a solid and dependable guy.
I Like Patterson as a nice complimentary stretch 4, and yeah not the best rebounder but you don't need a rebounding beast to win these days. DD
we just need the team to make FT, make an open lay up and occasional open 3. thats not hard to ask for
Carl faints. Dmo S&T for Patterson, we get a cheap replacement, avoid paying Dmo big money with his bad back. Raps roll the dice despite Dmos health concerns for the chance of having a sweet ass Lithuanian front court duo!
How in the world Pat ever got a the good defender label I don't know. He certainly always knew where he was supposed to be but was massively ineffective regardless. On top of that he didn't rebound while in Houston. Its great "IF" you play good defense but what the hell good does it do if you let the team have 2nd, 3rd and 4th chance opportunities in one offensive possession because you are allergic to rebounds. Has his defense suddenly become more effective in Toronto? I don' know. As a reserve player, I would take Beasley each and every day over Pat. Beasley is not a good defender but his offense is lightyears more consistent (Pat frequently becomes invisible on the court) and he can be a go to scorer as well as a decent rebounder.
I am the only one who remember his only notable against Charlotte. A comeback after another MKG injury.
Still not much of a rebounder, but PPat actually did go from adequate to very good defensively last year. He'd be a good third big.
Not sure if its a greater testament to Scola or just a knock on Patterson, but Toronto was better starting Scola in the playoffs. Think about that fact before you throw big money to bring this guy back.
We could do a lot worse than having Patrick on our bench, but honestly, given a choice? I'd rather have Luis Scola, even if he's 40 or 50 years old now. The cat steps up in the playoffs and still rebounds better than Patterson. Viva Scola!!
I just added him and those snap's are still up. Seems pretty odd. Is there any reason he'd be having a meeting with Rockets FO? The pictures of those Rockets bobbleheads make it look like he's in an office.
