I think over bulking him up would be a mistake as well, but he can pick up 25 lbs without affecting his game. He's 7'2 and 210 right now, he should pick up at least 15 lbs just as he matures. Yao put on 40 lbs while he was here.
If you really really want to see some basketball action. Here's the full game that Beasley dunk came from. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLK2qMYYIpfrM2OrQhtrOiM7by3qgb9H1M It features Zhou Qi, Andrew Goudelock on XinJiang and Beasley on ShanDong. Click spoiler for statline Spoiler Zhou Qi had 23pts, 18reb, 2ast, and 4blocks Beasley had 28pts, 11reb, 3ast, and 1block Goudelock had 19pts, 6reb, 4ast, and 1block
There is no down side for middle to late second round picks, only upside as not many of those players make it in the NBA anyway. If Zhou could average 20-25 min and 8-10 pts and 5-7 rounds he would be a good pick in few years.
Harden's ex GF has more meat on her than this skinny 23 years old from China Maybe he can train with Khole to gain some weight
Not sure if this was posted here from NBA Draft 2016 forum. Looks very fluid for a 7'2 guy. I was imagining someone not very mobile. I think this is a very good pick considering the potential.
I've watched the vids, I'm seeing a longer, skinnier, Pau/KG hybrid if thinking big upside. If thinking serviceable NBA player, I'm seeing Tayshaun Prince. Both KG and Prince were really skinny too which is comparable so I don't think his weight will be an issue. He's also got a competitive streak that I like.
Is this guy ever coming over? Just another stash we talk about every summer who never ends up coming.
23? Where do you get that? He is 20 years old and will play at least another year in China before coming to the US so he has some time to fill out some more. If he plays PF he definitely needs to get stronger but there have been successful skinny PF's that have wiry strength and he seems like he is strong for how skinny he is so that is a good sign. Hopefully he can develop but I am not counting him out because of how skinny he is as a 20 year old in a country/basketball league that doesn't work on strength/core training, nutrition, etc. throughout the year. Yao had a great base already but he did gain some upper body strength during his mid-20's after following a strict NBA regimen.
....Yao....? This guy is not even Yi Jianlian's weight. I need to see Qi run through some chair drills before I can judge if his skills will translate.
That Xinjiang v. Shandong footage...Qi looks good! I've seen his draft workout, etc., but he looks fluid at (CBA) game speed. Hope he comes over ASAP.
