Rockets showing interest in trading for Ricky Rubio?

Now what I might do is a 3 way trade with Chicago and Minny that sends Ariza to Chicago, Brewer and a pick to Minnesota, and Rubio and Mirotic to Houston.

 

if we did that deal you know what it says to me? Morey is gonna go max Barnes right after.

I still dont' get what Thibs is doing. Ariza??? Lavin and Wiggins and Shabbaz can't find enough time and now you add a vet as well?

why are you so happy for having to eat Pekovic' 2 year contract? I hope this deal doesn't happen because it's not worth it.

 

I'll gladly take Barnes but not at the max. He can guard 2-3 and 4. And I know he didn't show up in the finals but neither did baby face or iggy or Livingston I can go on and on. I don't like when role players get a lot of hate for not showing up in big games when the STARS don't show up themselves.

FWIW, pretty much any trade involving the Rockets taking back both Rubio and Pekovic before the end of the July Moratorium (which begins Thursday night and runs until July 7) will be nearly impossible. The Rockets are still subject to a hard cap until then and cannot take back more than a tiny bit of extra salary in trades.

Now, if this guy is just talking about the Rockets needing to AGREE IN PRINCIPLE on a trade by Thursday -- with the understanding that it wouldn't be completed until after the July Moratorium -- then that's an entirely different matter. Perhaps the T'Wolves want to plan accordingly with their July 1 free agent pursuits?

Still, I'm highly skeptical that this information is legit.

But I don't see the reason of timing to be suspicious. Lots of teams agree on principle and even the general concept of the deals is leaked if not all the details.
It actually works with the info that Thibs wants to add either Noah or another high paid vet to his team in FA.

 

If the Bulls are retooling, not sure why they would move Mirotic for Ariza.

 

For one, they already used their amnesty clause on Luis Scola. Two, he had to previously be on your team (July 1, 2011) and you couldn't amnesty someone you signed or traded for after that date.

I hope morey takes a chance on Rubio. He's always been a net positive player even while being a bad shooter. Dantoni can further utilize him.
