[Premium Post] Keep dreaming, Trader_J. Hey! Why don't you jump on The Bernie Bandwagon! You know you are a democratic socialist at heart. GOOD GRIEF
It's worse. Trump’s campaign says they were just kidding, and now Bernie is sitting by the phone hoping Donald calls while everyone laughs at his sad desperation. The worst thing about this Sanders train wreck is that he could have come out of this race on a high, and gone down in the history books as a significant thought leader in American liberalism despite his checkered past. Instead he runs right off the cliff and goes down in a fantastic ball of flames. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself... At least the Democrats seem to still be willing to leave the door ajar for him to exit with a little bit of grace. But goodness, is he ever determined to slam it shut.
There's no better indication that you're doing the right thing than the establishment trying to end you. Something to be proud of unless you're happy with the status quo. This is why I keep saying: establishment voters don't understand Bernie. They are constantly being critical of him for not doing things that an establishment candidate would do or not having plans that follow the establishment strategy of working with a corrupt congress. If he were that person, Hillary would have wrapped this up in January.
Bernie is actually more for the Party or for policies and principles than Hillary who is just about winning. Some may say this total focus on winning the immediate election at hand is good but it verges so much on her personal careerism or advocating policies no matter how GOP light that not much progressive is accomplished short term. This sole focus on winning the immediate election at all costs (triangulation) so much feeds the narrative that both parties are the same so why vote.
This is nonsense. Bernie can't even hold a rally without flat out lying about how he did in the Primaries.
[Premium Post] glynch, you nailed it. Bernie is authentic -- he says what he feels, all the way down to his plumbs. There isn't a triangulation filter that is applied to his comments -- they are from the heart. Hillary on the other hand, has a conversation going in her mind while at the same time communicating with her hideous mouth. The two conversations are very different, because she has to override her internal thoughts before communicating externally. This slows down her speech and signals her dishonest nature. She is corrupt to the core and is all about selfish careerism. She picks policies based on which way the political winds are blowing that day -- leaders do not act in this manner. They are driven by their principles and moral conviction. Hillary has none, other than naked ambition.
I will give Trump credit that if he does debate Sanders this will be a a very clever move on his part and one that is fitting for an unconventional campaign. Trump has a lot to gain by this debate and allows him to undercut Clinton while gaining a lot of free publicity. if Sanders spends time attacking Clinton in the debate it helps him even more. If Trump is smart in this debate he won't directly attack Sanders and just ignore Sanders's attacks on him. Even if Sanders wins the debate that just hurts Clinton more in the short run than it does Trump. For Sanders while he could gain a lot from this debate mainly from being on the same stage as the Republican nominee, there is a big risk. Trump has made many other people look foolish and if Sanders really gets into it with Trump he could come off looking like Abe Simpson. That said for both Sanders and Trump there is far more upside to doing this debate than downside. Mostly since it hurts their common enemy.
I heard on the radio... music station morning program, so take that for what it's worth. I heard that Trump has said if they can raise 10 million for charity that he would debate with Sanders. I would think that a network could get a few sponsors for that action.
"These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina, where incomes are actually more equal today than they are in the land of Horatio Alger. Who's the banana republic now?" - Bernard Sanders, 8/5/2011 http://www.sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/must-read/close-the-gaps-disparities-that-threaten-america
Super Delegats or not, Hillary has more votes than Bernie. Period. I feel this is getting less and less about the country and more about Bernie. His unrealistic over promises of eliminating student debt have dishonestly grabbed a huge part of the younger generation that he could tell to stay home in November.
