If this new coach, whoever it turns out to be, doesn't go well, then I am feeling a very strong Gerry Hunsicker vibe from all of this. Dud finally just threw his hands up and said 'Enough is enough!' and split.

Sad thing is, there are probably 20 teams out there who would snap Morey up in a heartbeat, and we would be left with.. who? Hinkie?

if les doens't trust morey to make decisions, then he isn't going to be around any longer.

Morey should step down and Leslie needs to stop saying he wants a championship. He just wants people in the seats, money and exciting basketball.

i was thinking about this after phil stepped down in ny (which apparently was a false report so nevermind). but i could still see morey stepping down, although not likely.

It's looking like that's the case and honestly I'm not sure how much longer Morey wants to be around if his owner is going to undermine him. Morey could get nearly ANY GM job in the league. Un-freaking believable...

Unfortunately if the "GM doing is job" is hiring McHale and Bickerstaff, I don't really blame Les for trying to step in. That said, maybe Les had something to do with hiring McHale as well

If this were true then why not just fire him after the season and bring in a new GM to make decisions for next season?

Actually was Les who wanted McHale out and don't want to pay for a real coach the rest of the season so they promote Bickerstaff. And turn out to be a disaster.

McHale gave Houston the first wcf visit in 20years with an injured team.

Also Jeremy Lin hire was Les idea because of $$$.

This story was reported similarly by Woj and Clutch today on his interview with Clanton supported the theory as well.

That's exactly what I mean. I think Morey will be looking for better ownership.

You know Morey is always subtly letting things like this out - if he intends to leave, or when he eventually is fired, this might haunt him, it is very passive aggressive.

Things like "Mr. Alexander always hires good coaches" is a subtle way of not taking responsibility - and praising your boss at the same time. It is so passive aggressive and weasely.

And let's not forget Morey ran Adelman out and hired McHale....which got us here in the first place.

If Hinkie was on board with hiring D'Antoni, then I might be able to see the correlation with Morey being on board with this hire for the team.

Morey doesn't have a record of running off coaches. That is Les. He wants big names, and he gets angry and wants action. He also wanted an up and down system with a 7'6" center with tree trunks and bad feet.

    Huh?

Morey didn't hire or fire Adelman..... just like he hasn't hired or fired any of the Rockets coaches.

You just don't seem to get it........ when it comes to decisions that Les Alexander cares about, he makes the decisions and no one else.

Alexander wanted Van Gundy gone, he wanted Adelman and he wanted Adelman fired..... hell, Morey didn't hire McHale or fire him.

The Rockets are not and never have been a democracy under Les Alexander.

Morey wasn't allowed to tank....... Morey didn't get to hire the head coaches he wanted...... there were certain free agent signings that were Alexander motivated.

I know you have some bizarre vendetta with Morey; and he isn't perfect..... but the high level decisions such as hiring/firing of head coaches all come from the top.

You are so woefully misinformed, it hurts to read your posts. Haven't used the block feature yet, but one more outright lie to support your agenda, and you'll be the first.

    Congratulations!

This is just not true - McHale was Morey's choice.

And Adelman was let go because he did not like Morey forcing Finch onto his staff as a coach in waiting, and didn't really care for Analytics.

Morey is not blameless he is part of the leadership, whether you want to admit it or not.

The Adelman part specifically has been disputed by people connected to the organization.

You missed the part where Les makes the calls he cares about. Why was Lin brought back?
