I would hardly call this an investment... Those are pennies. Miller will be a top back the next three years book it.
If you read what I wrote, you'll see I included drafting a RB as well. Teams need at least two good backs except you have an Adrian Peterson or or healthy/prime Marshawn Lynch. Plus Forte cost less. I'm okay with Miller though. Forte was just my preference.
He might be overhyped, but he's certainly a top 7 RB in this league. Might even be higher than that, I'm just being conservative. It's about the ability to make receptions which matters. He's probably the best catching RB in the league. His combination of rushing and receiving is pretty damn good. I'd definitely say he's better than Miller, and that's not really a knock on Miller. Forte is just a better talent. Miller is still young though, but until I see more I think Forte is better.
Gotcha, I wouldn't really see us using a high draft pick to draft a RB and signing Forte though. Elliot or Forte would be good enough to be a 3 down back for us, would rather fortify other positions.
I've always thought this about him. There's a difference between prolific and great. People used to rate him on par with Arian and I NEVER saw him as being as good a runner as AF. Good back with great hands. Now that he's declined (at least slightly) from his prime I'm more than willing to go with "Miller time" over Forte. Just hoping LM can handle an increased workload and it wasn't just stupidity on his previous coaches.
We will just have to agree to disagree. He is certainly a very good receiver, but don't confuse heavy use of him in the receiving game as it being entirely because he is great at it. He has got a high number of catches because the Bears have consistently checked down due to ineptitude. He is a good runner (not great) and is a good blocker (not great). He is one of the most complete backs but not a Hall of Famer and not as good as some seem to think. The Bears thought so highly of him that they offered Anderson more money than it would cost to resign Forte. He isn't better than Lamar Miller at this point. Miller is 6 years younger, has a whole lot less mileage, rushed for half a yard a carry last year, and was as good a receiver as Forte last season. Miller has also become a good blocker and doesn't get replaced in goal line formations like Forte. Forte is a class act and has had a very good career. However he has never been great. Just my opinion.

Guess you're giving up on Blue? I wouldn't waste a early rounds on RB.... but if somehow Elliott falls to 22nd, hmmmm that's another whole different story.

The thing about noticing this kind of anomaly is it could be taken a couple different ways. One of those is the Dolphins didn't know what they were doing and improperly utilized him...but two is that they saw how he performed during practice in typical two back or QB under center scenarios and determined that he would only be effective in the shotgun. They may very well be wrong about that...but they may very well be right too. Hopefully we've found gold from a team that had no idea what they were doing and didn't get enamored by the shine of fool's gold just based on an incredible performance against our team.

Reading that article, one of the drawbacks of Miller is he tends to dance at the line of scrimmage. That's one of my pet peeves of running backs (and something I absolutely loved Arian Foster for not doing). Hopefully he doesn't have as much indecision for us and picks a hole and goes for it.
