Not saying he can't, but thats a looooong way to go. Also, wonder how Biggio and Bagwell's stats would've looked if they playing at MMP their entire career, as opposed to the Dome.
Biggio's overall power numbers ended up being more inflated by MMP than depressed by the Dome (career high HR's at age 39?). Bagwell, not so much.
Talking about HR's. For starters, look at his HR rate in neutral park factors in his prime years vs his later years. Then look at the negative effect of the Astrodome HR rate in comparison to the positive effect of the MMP rate. And this really only applies to Biggio's last 3-4 years, when he was no longer a really great hitter, but was continuing to hit plenty of HR's. For his career, Biggio actually hit more HR's on the road than at home.
Yeah I gotcha, that's why I was asking. How many doubles did Biggio gain because of the Dome's OF and the turf?
I dunno. Probably quite a bit. His 1995 power numbers do look a tad bit outlierish... Back when a lot of people were suspected of getting turned on to Minute Maid (in order to make baseball cool again... You know, because of the cancelling of the World Series and all that).
Before there was any talk of players being juiced in the 90's, there was a lot of talk about the ball being wound differently. Chicks dug the longball.
Yep... that... and OJ... and double-murder-aquittals... quite a crazy time that people just took for granted. Looking back at it now, it was the total WTF era (minus the Rockets, of course).
At this point don't you have to consider hitting Altuve 3rd to allow him more men on base to drive in?
Been saying this for a while. I'd much rather Altuve AB with runners on base, than Altuve leading it off for the rest of this lineup... That said, Altuve hitting leadoff is ideal if we actually have the lineup to bring him in. But, we don't. I like this lineup: Springer Correa Altuve Rasmus White Gattis/Tucker Marwin/Valbuena Castro Gomez (to turn lineup over)
Sorry... But Kent's was a bigger moment.... On a bigger stage, against a more formidable opponent. To me, NLCS events will always trump NLDS events.
