He hasn't been a very good QB thus far and the team didn't value him as a good QB prospect. It's looking like they might have been right, he's still not a top 20 QB in the league despite being awesome at handing the ball off. The most memorable thing he's done in his career is Spoiler Point being, it's very unlikely that they'd have picked him even if the Vikings hadn't traded up but the Texans have shown that they will trade up to get anyone they really want over the past several seasons....with mixed results.
Some of you act like players don't improve, and work on skills once they're in the NFL. He has flaws, but he also has an opportunity to fix them. I'm happy with the pick because the one thing the Texans have never been is FAST.....and now we're blazing.
Lamar Miller, Strong,Hoplins,Fuller, Dent and Brock...as long as Fuller can run vertical being the fastest on the field on most gamedays then a safety now has to pay attention to him helping Hopkins. This could be LETHAL
As long as Brock has an IQ higher than Hoyer and can hand off the ball, pass it to our WR's versus the other teams defense like Hoyer then Brock doesn't need to be spectacular. Brock had less weapons in Denver with a jacked up offensive line
Looks like you're gonna be eatin' crow! Mr. "The Texans will never win anything with Brock Osweiler". Who do you think will be throwing Fuller the ball?
Little nervous about this guy but one thing everyone will love is those long PI calls. He will beat guys down the field, Brock will underthrow him, and Fuller is really good at drawing contact in those scenarios.
Love reading these draft threads as if any of us have a solid idea of how his career with us will go. As mentioned, go back and read the Watt draft day thread for some real entertainment. Slow your horses people and give the kid a chance before you go making claims that could very well make you a bbs clown after a few seasons.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=204074&highlight=watt I wish all polls were public by default.
Texans get no love from fans for drafting great WRs in the first round? Even if you don't like the pick they should get the benefit of the doubt when they draft a WR in the 1st. Nuke was drafted 27th. wow.
we drafted Fuller for the same reason we drafted Clowney; makes it harder for teams to overload on our stars Watt/Hopkins
I"m curious, aren't there people on this forum saying we should have traded up to get Bridgewater (taking ONE pick before us)? We did not and we didn't get our guy.
Fans have to give him some time to get acclimated to the Texans system. Yes, he was the one BOB wanted, and I think that was for a reason. Just remember 5 years ago, when most people booed JJ before he ever played a single down and went into Texans lore before his rookie season was fully completed with that Pick-6 off Dalton. The rest, as they say, is history. Yes it sucks having a pick in the bottom 12 of the first round, BUT, when you win the division, that's where your pick will be located (unless a trade to get higher up to get a much better prospect takes place).
I think we should all just play the 'wait and see' game with Fuller. His speed alone is enough to open up the field more for the offense(see Darrius Heyward-Bey, 2015). His drop rate is concerning, but he fits here, and maybe Nuk can help him with his hands. I'm also optimistic due to Rick Smith's success rate on first round picks(all of them from 2008-now are still on the team), I trust him only in the first, the rest is a crap shoot. If anything, it's nice to have guys on the field fast enough to just run past people.
Yeah, that's true. Basically Rick must have gotten info that a team was gonna trade up and take Fuller. If there was a WR run afterwards it's irrelevant.
