If Kidd was given the whole thing, I can't blame Thibs. I couldn't think of a pun, I hate it when that happens.
Sometimes, it's better to have the HC and the GM merged into one person. The coach can actually coach players that he wanted and will fit his schemes.
Why do people keep saying he is the GM. Just like Popovich, Thibs is Coach and President of Basketball Operations. RC Buford is the Spurs GM. Scott Layden is the MIN GM. He was GM of the Knicks for like 5 yrs, and most recently Asst GM to Buford. Seems they are copying the Spurs model.
The key with "president of basketball operations" is that person has "final say in player personnel." So, Thibs/Pop/SVG etc tell their GM to get "that guy", "trade that guy." The GM makes the calls and gets done the stuff the president wants.
I can't believe people think Thibs having control over his players is a bad thing Look at how Chicago ruined his team.. he's not trusting anyone after that
Chicago ruined his team? He played his players into the ground. You could probably blame him for Noah's injuries now. He decimated his own roster.

We'll ultimately see but those who wanted Brooks for Durant: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--scott-brooks-agrees-to-coach-wizards-215542570.html

Durant in the past has said that he loves his hometown but isn't going to play there. As for Brooks, he isn't as bad as some think, but I wouldn't call him really good either. I don't think he is as good as Van Gundy. To all the belly aching about the Rockets missing out on coaches, well that is what happens when you make the playoffs.
