Yeah, bring back JVG please. Dude's been backing Houston all the way, and he knows how to motivate Harden into playing good defense.
Think JVG will out interview Thibodeau here or elsewhere. He's just more dynamic. And sometimes when you ask Thib about Houston, he's not clear on why we suck and has never provided a solution.
Are JVG's daughters out of HS? That's quite a shock to move from Houston weather to MIN winters for them. I could see them veto'ing the Wolves. But I know he'd love to coach Towns.

One of his daughters is 19 (College). The other is 11. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/06/usw...an-klingenberg-are-living-with-jeff-van-gundy
If you're a coach and you had your choice, would you take Minny over Houston? I think so. Wiggins and KAT will be there for a long time, and you have several other young players you could package in a trade if you wanted (Rubio [though he won't net anything], LaVine, Dieng, Tyus, Shabazz, Payne) or you could keep and build around them. Houston has Harden, a few old mediocre roles players, an aging Dwight free agency, Clint Capela, and no first round pick. Plus Minnesota is far away from Willowbrook, which is fast becoming a rough area.
I agree, but I suspect that Jeff may take the job IF Thibs looks elsewhere. Otherwise I expect Jeff to take a front office role. Thibs is going to be very careful what job he takes, and it will have more to do with the amount of control he has, and how many of his people he can bring into the fold rather than just the most talented team or biggest market. Making the playoffs was all about what Les Alexander wanted, it isn't coincidence that the vote of confidence for Morey came when it did. From an outside perspective, I do not see any positives to making the playoffs.
Would Thibodeau actually offer much of an opinion publicly, especially if he has some interest in the job? Might be better not to look like he's denigrating the organization (should he not be employed here) or lobbying for a job that is currently filled (although we can all see the ejector seat beneath JBB).
Great young CORE of players with a patient ownership group, non meddling org - probably a more attractive destination than Houston. DD
Yes, Minnesota is the top job on the market. Now soon to be off the market. It appears it will go to one of JVG or Tom.
Not meddling huh? Not sure that the quality of the organization is going to matter as much as the level of control Thibs has, coupled with several very good and young building blocks. There is no reason Wiggins and KAT cannot become elite defenders and very productive offensive ones.
JVG & Thibs are both great coaches. I like JVG's open-minded approach to offensive philosophy going forward. But I don't think either coach is a great fit for that team.
Puting a coach as gm is very very bad decision. Anyway if they hire either of those guys I dont see Rubio ever getting traded. Lavine Wiggins Shabbaz and Dieng on the other hand better start learning how to play defence.
The good thing about the Minny job is that the team is still super young so whether it's JVG or Thibs, they can work on molding those players according to their style. All those guys all seem like high character guys, with a HUGE upside! The Rockets on the other hand has a bunch of vets who have played a certain way for most of their careers and would be tougher to change/mold them into something they're not used to. It shouldnt shock anyone if the Wolves are in the 6-8 playoffs spot next year.

Watch all the good coaches get hired by the time we are eliminated from the playoffs and start our search lol
Bring on svg... He more flexible in his philosophy anyways and doesn't run his players quite as hard as Thibs. Question: Who are some good offensive minded coaches out there who we can hire to run with svg if we were to land him?
