the only way these names make sense to me is if a big time free agent covets them as a coach as well. I mean they're both major steps up, but they both have obvious flaws as well. Thibs runs his players into the ground and I can coach offense better than him. Brooks seems to be a tad to much of a players coach and not sure how good that will be at this point. That said, not sure what other amazing options are out there. Maybe they can find that top assistant coach type that really works out. And as moronic as it can sound, I am definitely not against Luke Walton. I get why it can sound dumb, but he also has been a huge part of the coaching staff behind a historic team that wasn't so obviously historic 2 years ago. And I think that pedigree, at this point, perhaps gets the respect from the players that you wouldn't think he'd otherwise get.
Thibs for the win! This team collapsed due to lack of accountability and structure. With Thibs, that shouldn't be an issue. Now some players might not like it, but the current "players coach" ain't working either. I think Harden would respond really well to Thibs. Could also hate him in leave in FA, but I think it is worth a shot.
Out of those two? Thibs all day. There has to be other options besides Brooks. Hammond? I'm intrigued by the idea of Battier as well. I'm shocked that McHale isn't on anyone's list. (Not really).
Strange people complaining about Thibs being a disciplinarian, dictator and grinding players into the ground. Bulls minutes this season for Butler and Rose aren't that different to last. Butler complained about the lack of direction they were getting THIS season and Harden had a stellar year last year crediting Thibs and the Team USA structure. OH and most of the Rockets problems this year have been credited or rumored to be locker or relationship based. To me it sounds like a disciplinarian is exactly what the Rockets need, not a GOOD FRIEND.
And forgot to mention Thibs being a good defensive coach - that's our weak point. So personally I don't mind seeing that side improving! Get Thibs!
Please, Thibodeau. Bickerstaff needs to continue to develop under someone else. I get the feeling Brooks will just become the next enabler for Harden. I want a tough coach.
Would interview: Jay Larranaga(Celtics) Nate McMillan(Pacers) David Fizdale(Heat) Adrian Griffin/Mario Elie(Magic) Chip Engelland/Chad Forcier/Becky Hammon/Ettore Messina/Ime Udoka(Spurs) Ron Adams/Luke Walton(Warriors) Sam Cassell(Clippers) Would trade (current non-existent) 1st round pick for: Terry Stotts, Rick Carlisle, Erik Spoelstra, Steve Clifford, Mike Budenholzer, Stan Van Gundy, Brad Stevens
I'd be fine with Thibodeau. If he runs the players into the ground...well, they brought it on themselves for this season.
which one would durant rather play for? Edit: Didn't refresh in time to see J.R.'s quote. Seems like the answer is Thibs!
Meant to say I really don't think thibs will kill our players. Granted it was dumb when he let rose finish the game out when it was a blowoutr
