Its pretty sad that Luther Head would be by far the best post entry passer if he was on this current Rockets team, and he is not even the best on those old Rockets team. Shane Battier was probably the best on the team on delivering a quick, on the numbers, pass to the big man on the post. T-Mac, Rafer and even Scola were all great post entry passers. They snapped the ball in the post so Yao could literally catch and go straight into a shooting motion. Of course Dwight rarely ever seals his man as well as Yao but the post entry passers on this current team suck so much. No one knows how to make it! James either lobs or tries to bounce the ball in the post and the defender has time to push our big man out of position or reach around and knock the ball away. Ariza has no confidence trying to make that pass so he tries a little iso and settles for a fadeaway long 2. When Bev passes in the post, most times its so inaccurate that our big men lose position. Dmo is probably the best on our team at post entry passes but he, too, tries to be too fancy with it most times. They do not understand that you need to snap the ball to the post. Its pretty frustrating to watch Howard actually get a good seal on his man and is open for a pass but no one notices or is too scared to make that pass, yet are so willing to try the craziest passes on the break or for a contest three point shot. Its honestly pretty embarrassing no one can make that entry pass since we have/had two of the greatest post big men of all time in our practices, in McHale and Olajuwon. We always see them tutoring the players on post moves, but what good is that when we struggle to get the ball in the post anyway? Bring in Shane Battier to teach them instead!
Dwight can't catch and finish anyway so it doesn't matter. He doesn't move quickly enough anymore. Watch the video and watch Dwight, Yao knew how to get proper positioning and when to expect the pass, Howard does not. Yao had a post game and could make free throws so they had to try not to foul him blatantly in front of the refs. Anyway I really miss having high IQ players and a real coach on this team.
You must not remember Yao. Green would shut Yao down by fronting him every possession. Moreover the refs would more than likely let Green get away with murder against him. On the other end, Yao would have nobody to guard. GSW's small ball lineup would kill Yao.
No GSW has no one who could guard Yao at all. Yao can shoot he doesn't have to post up and he would also have GSW in the penalty and would actually make his free throws. They could run that small lineup all they want they would just get punished.
Point exactly why your comment that Green would shut down Yao is an ad hominem. I think the point you're making is that Yao would have trouble against the Warriors, which I 100% agree with. But it's Yao v Green plus 4 other Warriors, not Yao v Green in a game of 1 on 1. I get it you're just trying to put out a controversial one liner just to troll. If it was a game of 1 on 1 against Yao it wouldn't even be fair. It would be clubbing baby seals. If you don't believe me just YouTube Cole Aldrich against Chris Paul, Jamal Crawford, Paul Pierce. In a game of 1 on 1 size matters.
