Rockets lose (surprise!) Anyone surprised at last night's 97-109 loss? One good quarter just won't cut it. Great game by Beasley, another solid one by D-Mo who played 3 seconds in the fourth when no one but Beasley could score. I don't get it. Tim Hardaway Jr. was tonight's "mediocre player who goes off against the "defense" of the Rockets" with five threes and 20 points overall. Brewer with a classic 0 point, -12 performance in 13 minutes. Look at that defense! AMAZING defense by San Antonio once again to beat the Warriors 87-79. Great communication, almost perfect rotations and good boxouts. Sigh. The fight for the lower seeds Memphis is a funny team. A Zach Randolph triple-double (28/11/10) in his return from an injury, along with 22 points by Tony Allen to beat the Clippers 113-102? Amazing. Memphis might just hold onto their fifth spot. Utah had a setback in their quest to catch up to Dallas, Houston and Portland. The Jazz just couldn't score enough and lost 85-92 to the Bulls led by Derrick Rose with 22 points. Other games Thunder at Pacers 115-111; Nuggets at Hornets 101-93 Sunday games While the Rockets are off until Tuesday, all their direct competitors are in action today. The race tightens Dirk with 40 points, Deron Williams with 30 points and 16 assists – what year is it? The Mavericks allowed a ton of offensive rebounds, but even with 15 shots less than Portland, they won 132-120 thanks to great shooting (55% from the field, even 60% from three). Meanwhile, the Jazz defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 94-85, creeping up on the three teams ahead of them. Other games In the first game after the Pelicans announced the season ending surgery for Anthony Davis, they shocked the Clippers with a 109-105 victory. Omer Asik probably had his best game of the year with a 15/14 statline that might remind us of the good year he had as the Rockets' starting center. In New York, an epic battle of centers took place. Okay, I don't know about the "epic", but both Robin Lopez and DeMarcus Cousins got the rare 20/20 in the same game, which is pretty cool. Without Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks shot only 35% and lost 80-88. Monday games Nuggets at Cavaliers, Kings at Bulls, Grizzlies at Suns

Rockets lose ground The Rockets didn't play horribly, but couldn't get the win against the Thunder who now sport a five-game winning streak. The air is getting thinner. Memphis lost to the Lakers 100-107, while the Pelicans get closer to being the next team out of this table with a 99-113 loss to Miami. Wednesday games This might be the most important day in the fight for the last playoff spots. Houston plays Utah at home, while the Mavericks visit Portland. With only around 11 or 12 games to go for all the teams, these direct matchups are HUGE. If the Rockets lose, they drop out of the playoff picture again. Short breakdown of the Rockets' head-to-head tiebreaker situation: Portland: The season series is tied with no games remaining, so it's all about the record against other Western teams. Portland currently has a slight edge, but this can change any day. Dallas: This tiebreaker looks good for the Rockets, but it's not in the bag yet. Dallas would have to win the final direct matchup on 4/6, beat Memphis and San Antonio and get a better record against all Western teams. Unfortunately, the seemingly most difficult task against the Spurs comes on the final day of the regular season, so Pop might choose to rest his guys. Utah: A win tonight secures the tiebreaker (currently 2-1 H2H). Even with a loss, Houston keeps the tiebreaker by a solid margin thanks to a better record against the Western conference.

Rivals lose Utah had no chance in OKC and lost 91-113, handing the Rockets the 8th seed again. The scoring load was pretty evenly distributed in this game, Durant was the high man of the night with 20/8/9. A much closer game developed in Los Angeles, where the Trail Blazers and the Clippers battled it out right down to the wire. With the game tied and under 30 seconds to go, Lillard hit a tough three to give his team the lead, but Jamal Crawford hit a huge triple from way beyond the line to tie the game with 11 seconds to go. Portland missed subsequently, giving LA the chance to win the game with 1.1 seconds on the clock. They got the ball in to J.J. Redick who buried the Blazers. Exciting stuff! Friday games As Dallas will probably lose at Oracle Arena, the Rockets can take the 7th seed with a win in Toronto. A loss would send them back out of the playoff picture. Was that … defense? A rare sight: The Rockets played some good defense over long stretches of the game and won 112-109 to the Raptors. The hard hedges / double teams on the pick-and-roll were covered by good, quick rotations that gave the big a chance to recover. Toronto frequently had to make something happen with the shotclock running down. Houston still gave up too many open threes and that terrible 15-0 run in just 2:30, but the team might have turned a corner for the 20th time this season. One more player only meeting and we're ready for the championship! Fun weird stat of the game: The Rockets shot: 54.5% from three > 51.9% from the field > 45.7% from the line. Mavericks lose Without Nowitzki, Parsons and Williams, the Mavericks still put up a ton of points in Oakland, but lost 120-128 to the Warriors. Thompson and Curry combined for 73 points and 14 threes, helping Golden State break Houston's record for most three pointers in a season from last year. Saturday games Jazz at Timberwolves, Spurs at Thunder, 76ers at Trail Blazers
Rockets get the 6th seed and take out OKC. I can see it now... Durant gets frustrated with Westbrick trying to do too much and being careless. Ibaka suffers an injury and is out the rest of the series, Harden gets payback and finally has a breakout series against his former team, Dwight shows up big time and dominates the OKC front line like he should. Terry hits clutch 3's in pivotal moments and does his Jet motion, Beasley continues to be a reliable scorer, Smoove comes back from the dead and makes his imprint being a key contributor to at least 2 wins. Ariza and Brewer play exceptional defense. Threads about re-signing Dwight run rampant in May. Rockets win in 6 OKC fans have the same look on their faces when the Rockets went up 2-0 against the Mavs in 2005. Everyone is speculating where Durant should and will sign in the off season.
This would be a great scenario except for Dwight playing well. Not only is that part really unlikely, it would be a massive mistake to even consider re-signing this clown.

And it doesn't help with Parsons maybe out for the year, so we could stumble into the playoffs. Great....lose our draft pick and get an ass-whooping by the Warriors. Just ****ing awesome.
yeah, stay calm. we just have to find our rhythm. it's not how you start it's how you finish. nobody wants to see us in the playoffs.
