Keeping Howard means flexibility. He's going to seek a max deal in FA and find out know one even with all that cap space is going to give it to him. While this is occurring Morey is going to try and nab one or two of Durant, Conley, Horford, or Barnes. If he gets two to bite then he clears the cap and renounces Howard. If only one bites then Morey comes back to Howard and says look no one offered you the max so come back for $18 per and we can keep Ariza, Bev whatever.

Lawson has no value, trading him does nothing in return.

Jones has the value of a 2nd, its worth more to have a PF that can play out the season then a 2nd.

Howard could have netted a mid 1st,but it's probably more valuable to Morey/Les to keep Howard for the season, try to go on a playoff then get a lousy mid 1st in return.

Brewer can be dumped this off season, trading him would have not helped us win now nor gotten us assets.

We sold Dmo because we want to have open space to sign some real difference makers this off season. If kept he would have had a 6 million dollar cap hold you can't trade for assets, but only waive for nothing. Morey did the smart thing and got a 1st for him in advance instead of waiving him for nothing. Plus he has back problems, and is a gamble to pay in general. It was a smart move.

The only short sighted move we did was send the nuggets 2nd to dump Anthony. But who cares it's a 2nd.

It was a disappointing deadline, but in reality Morey played it smart and did what was best.

    a) lawson out puts us out of the lux tax wihtout having to get the excuse" it saved us money trading DMO"
    b) A second is better than no second. Especially since Morey decided to spent one of the best we had to dump Joel.
    c) If we had tanked instead, instead of a middling first, we would have TWO firsts one of whom would have been in the lottery.
d)DMO can be difference maker. He's a starting caliber pf. You dont' need All stars in all positions..and you can't get them!! It's not like the market is brimming of stars and the teams dont' have money to sign them.
Most likely our capspace goes to waste.

Um, what did he do last off season when he re-signed Brewer, Bev, KJ? What did he do by hard capping him self for Harrell? By trading back for Smith? By keeping the whole squad together?

He built a 2nd seed/WCF squad, he aquired 2 allstars, he kept the team together and lost his flexibility in doing so. It is NOT his fault, the PLAYERS gave up this season. Morey put them together, Morey paid them, Morey hard capped him self. The players gave up on the roster.

It's the players that turned this team into ****, not Morey. And now you guys are upset that Morey doesn't want to pay Dmo to keep this **** team together? Instead of actually rebuilding the team and adding real talent upgrades? Come on.

Last year don't forget he made the mistake of asking Brew to opt out and then resigning him at a bigger longer and worse contract.

Who brought the players in this team?

Who hired a clueless assistant to be the head coach?

    Delusional

He was a middling PF with a pretty post game, but below average just about everywhere else. He simply was not an impactful player.

D-Mo is an overrated PF that can neither defend nor rebound yet this place goes into meltdown because we got a 1st round pick for an RFA with back issues. Clutchfans is beyond embarrassing at times.

    He'll get exposed in Detroit.

I guess you didn't watch last year when Dwight and Jones missed half the year due to injuries and Dmo was the main big holding down the fort. The Rockets were still able to win 50+ games. This year the tables are turned with Dwight and Jones playing more and Dmo injured and look at the team, so please don't say Dmo doesn't make a difference.

I guess you didn't watch last year when DMO went down and the Rockets didn't miss a beat.

I don't have a problem with that. His positives far outweigh his negatives. They might not outweigh the unrealistic expectations others have put on him.

That was at the end of the year right before the playoffs, so nice try.

So correct me if I'm wrong - but our entire off-season is based on Dwight opting out?

We all know Dwight wants the max. Got it.

Dwight has just witnessed the trade deadline where no one really wanted him (at least didn't offer anything of significance for him)

Is anyone worried he has some epiphany before the off-season and realises he isn't going to get the max - and the opts in to the final year?

Throwing a massive spanner in our grand plan?

You're better off avoiding that poster. He thinks chemistry or heart don't exist because you can't quantify them. Probably never picked up a basketball in his life tbh.

Dwight won't opt in unless he suffers a bad injury. This is his last chance to get paid before he is really over the hill.

I don't get it. It genuinely feels like we gave up on the season. DMo could have helped us, MT was helping us. Trading them for nothing seems confusing. Perhaps we are going to sign someone who gets waived.
