Yeah that's what I was getting at. I work in supply and trading for a major, and we're fine. Actually hiring people.

Network. How is the morale there now? Exxon has downstream business, right? Is that helping? How's working in IT there? Specifically, how is contracting there? Some people tell me they treat contractors poorly.

i feel like prices are starting to drop for the new developments in the westu/rice military/montrose area.

before you couldn't find anything under 500K...but i am starting to see a few "priced reduced" listings on HAR.

There's development ongoing near Royal Oaks (westide of Beltway 8) off of Kirkwood. Hard to think they are going to find buyers at $500k.

The larger companies are probably too integrated for this split in fortunes to be too pronounced commercially, but anyone who grew up east of I-10 understands the distinction in cultures and fortunes. It would have been nice if they mentioned the diversity of some of these places for well-paid, non-degreed jobs, particularly for ex-military. A little worried they might be overstating the salaries a bit, those superintendents are getting 200 resumes for 3 or 4 operator jobs. They could have at least mentioned Garth Road or Alexander by name.

XTO maybe, formerly known as Cross Timbers; they're one of the bigger Eagleford producers, though that acquisition by XOM would have been a while ago.

Going back and reading the OP's article and page 1 was entertaining. This has been a runaway train past their expectations since they let this freefall.

Some of the original reactions are fairly embarrassing.

No. It's "affordable". Who wouldn't pay that price for a soulless cubic thing?

and it's not in the beltway!
no matter how amazing it is..it's still a townhouse with over 5000 bucks a year in maintenance fees...not even a single family unit.
people who buy those kind of properties are ruining the houston housing market for us regular folks.

Location. Energy corridor is blowing up.

New buildings made by NOV, Phillips 66, Conoco Phillips, Statoil, Shell, Murphy Oil, Microsoft, Honeywell, CBI, Air Liquide, Memorial Hermann and much more. BP is also nearby.
