i went to franklins and it didn't take me 8 hours. they usually have someone with the 'last person' sign. if you are after that person, the odds of you getting food is very low. last i heard LA bbq moved further east on cesar chavez and lines were really long. Actually I went to Kerlin's BBQ on friday, zero line . great bbq. they only have it on the weekends.
franklins wait is around 5 hours. la bbq is like 1 1/2 - 2 hours. kerlins 20 minutesish all comparable brisket
Is this 5hr wait at Franklin's really accurate? Earlier in this thread it was 1 1/2 to 3 hrs, no? and 8 hrs ... i'm not believing that.
so, what are the people doing who are first ones served at 11:00. Are they camping out the previous day.
probably showing up around 5-6 AM. i've had friends get lucky and show up at the end of the day when the line is gone and get some food.
For all of you in Austin, Lockhart bbq trips are completely worth it. I've been to Kreuz, Smitty's, and Black's. Kreuz makes the best brisket, Smitty's does everything well but their pork ribs stand out, and Black's does a beef rib that's insane. It's far bigger than any rib you've ever had. One rib feeds two or three people if you have sides.
Waited 5 hours at franklins. Place was good but overhyped. I prefer everything at killens over franklins.
Waiting for BBQ is silly. I've been in the restaurant industry my whole life and had it all and I will never wait. That's silly.
That's been my experience at LA BBQ. Go during the weekdays and its 1 hour if you go before they open.
