But if Republicans really want to go the "Money is fungible" route. All the money that go to faith-based organizations that is approved for only particular uses would all go away under the same argument. And it wouldn't stop at faith-based. All grants and funding with specific requirements of use would go away.

But of course, we know that organizations can easily manage and only use government funded money for government approved uses.

It's a desperate ploy to try to connect abortions to health services and such. PP doesn't sell body parts to research and transplant agencies. They charge a fee for processing.

Abortion is legal. Services PP provides are legal. Shutting down PP isn't changing the law. It's taking away everything PP does. And you will cause suffering with that. What you and Republican are doing is using all kind of tactics, some very unethical, to stop provider of abortion and to punish women that chooses abortion.

We are a society that try its best to find a balance and effective way to reduce abortion. More mature society have done even better. Republican doesn't want a balance, it want an extreme, not just abortion but things such as no sex education, no condom, etcs. You refuses to side with what work to reduce abortion. You prefer to satisfy your morals at the suffering of others and at increasing abortion rate.

I don't know what part of what law you want to change if you don't think they are committing a crime. Do you want to criminalize abortions and lock up medical service practitioners so mothers will have to resort to backdoor abortions as they did pre-Roe v. Wade? Do you want to ban embryonic tissue transfer (or again, "selling baby parts"), the same medical procedure that has saved millions of infants and which has been crafted from a long discussion between medical practitioners, scientists, and mothers who consent to advancing healthcare for all?

Suggesting the current system of legalized abortion lacks compassion is misguided. The system that has evolved, has again, lowered abortions to an all-time low, helped decrease infant mortality from 165 per 1000 live births to 7 per 1000 live births and has helped millions of mothers and doctors perform a safe, consensual medical procedure without worrying about jail time or killing themselves with a coat hanger.

Your point of bringing up animals is astute. For all of our "societal care" for animals, the industrial complex ruthlessly slaughters animals in pain for our food at an inefficient rate that actually helps starve others around the world (meat is so inefficient that though the world has enough agricultural capability to provide 2000 calories per person, the way it is distributed leads to mass starvation for some), and humans are on the verge of causing a "sixth great extinction"--the greatest loss of biodiversity the world has seen in eras!

Kids might be buying whale plushies but there has never been a greater chance of those animals dying off the face of this Earth. So much for that unguided compassion.

Raw compassion is useless and can even be harmful without an eye on outcomes, and solutions that lead to those outcomes. It can make you think like you're doing something positive when you really aren't. Legal, safe abortions and embryonic tissue transfer comes out of compassion that takes heed of outcomes.
