I'm rooting for the Angels. Stros need to win the division. 2nd wildcard will feel pretty lousy after leading the division all year long.
If the Angels sweep, as unlikely as it is, the Rangers don't make the playoffs. That's what I'm rooting for
Rangers could get swept and still make the playoffs. If the Astros won 0 or 1 games against DBacks, Rangers would still get 2nd WC. And if the Astros won 2, there'd still be a game between the Rangers and Astros to determine who gets to go to the playoffs.
So basically the only way to win the division is for the Rangers to get swept and for the Astros to sweep the dbacks?
Astros committed 4 errors, had passed balls and wild pitches yesterday and won. We don't need to be perfect. I want the Rangers to lose 3 or 4, while we sweep.
A split gets the Astros into the playoffs without any additional games... as long as they take at least 2 out of 3 against Arizona. Even if the Astros drop 2 out of 3 to Arizona, they would still be tied with the Angels if they split. 3-1 or 4-0 scenarios really only work in the Astros favor if the Rangers do it. If the Angels go 3-1 or 4-0, Astros not only HAVE to win the Arizona series... but they'll definitely have one additional regular season game (either for the division or the wild card). .... and this is all presuming that Minnesota loses and eliminates themselves.
Yes. Astros cannot win the division outright at this point... they'll definitely have to play an additional game to do that.
I can't believe I have to root for Southern Oklahoma, but whatever it takes for the Astros to smell the postseason.
You don't have to.... it all depends on whether or not you care if the Astros have to play a game 163.
