POSSIBLE SPOILER

I had missed a few episodes of the new season of Six Feet Under. Well, all of them actually, but I was planning on watching them soon. I had heard that someone died, but since there are quite a few people on the show, I didn't know who. That is until I'm scanning the front page of www.chron.com and there's a headline telling you who died. So, if you haven't watched, plan on watching, and don't want to know who dies, stay away.

I don't watch 24, but at a sports writer site I go to, Jason Whitlock started a thread the night of a 24 season-ender with the topic "holy &*%$! (so-and-so) died!"

(again, not sure who actually died)

Because most of the posters at the site work at night and Tivo TV shows, he pretty much ruined the season finale for hundreds of people. We don't like him that much.

I didn't know you were a Six Feet Under fan. I watch it religiously, the best show on TV in my opinion. The end of this past episode and scenes from the next were pretty shocking.

The Chronicle must read this BBS. It now says (I assume) something different and you have to go to the A&E section and then click on TV to find it.

The one that gave it away for me is still there. It's under the Blogs section.

Has anyone else grown increasingly annoyed with SFU over the past couple of seasons?

I loved the first few years when the progression of each character seemed to be made in inches instead of feet, when the drama was quiet and introspective. It jumped the shark for me when David got carjacked and when we found out Lisa was murdered by her brother-in-law who she was sleeping with (by the way, anyone think Maya isn't Nate's?).

I mean, it went from internal problems and emotional drama to infidelity, death, murder, carjackings, mental illness, physical illness, violence, drug addiction and so on.

All that just bordered on soap opera for me.

I'm further behind than I thought. I missed the last two episodes last year and I think that's part of the reason Jeff.

Was the brother in-law thing from last season?

Yup, and when Nate confronted him, he blew his brains out with a pistol right in front of his wife and Nate. See what I mean!

Yeah, I hear ya. The writing is still so damn good, though. True, the carjack episode was a bit much.

**Possible spoiler, don't read if you haven't watched S5E9.**

Speaking of the carjack scene, anyone notice the reference to it in David's dream at the end?

Whoa. Yeah, I need a quiet weekend to watch the last 10 or so episodes.

I've been watching SFU on DVD over the last few months and so far it has been one of the best written/produced tv shows I've ever seen. I think I'm up to about show 4 or 5 in season 3, which just came out on DVD. By the way, I think the spoiler RM was talking about also appeared in Salon last week. I don't really worry about that stuff, when I'm watching a show on DVD. I mean you can't have much expectation of avoiding spoilers when you're 2 or 3 seasons behind.

I don't remember a dream. Was this last week's episode? My memory sucks. :(

Nate's final dream ended as David's dream. When David woke up he was finishing the dream Nate started and

The only thing I find annoying is that the only couple on the show to maintain a relationship is the gay couple. Sometimes I think the show is trying to push a gay agenda. And when I found out that the creator of the show was the creator of the movie "American Beauty" it almost confirmed that belief because the only well adjusted adults in that move were Spacey's gay couple neighbors.

Well, I'm sure they'd rather have the right to marry and adopt kids everywhere in this country rather than being the only normal couples on a couple of movies or television shows. But, I can't debate that on this site anymore. :D

I am extremely supportive of gay rights, but you aren't the only one to notice that the only person on SFU who seems to be getting better and creating a stable life for himself, his partner and their soon-to-be-family is the gay brother.

It's like all the straight people are a complete disaster and the gay guys are healthy and well-adjusted. The story arc for the series took the straight brother from sensitive, grocery boy to...well, you know...and took the gay brother from having anonomys sex and being arrested for it to a healthy relationship and a baby in the futre.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I don't see this as really pushing the "gay agenda" though. This is just more the view of life through the mind of Alan Ball who is gay.

I e-mailed the Chronicle this morning letting them know they should be careful giving away spoilers to television shows in this day and age of Tivo and DVRs. I got a bitchy response saying that they waited 12 hours after the show before reporting anything and that just like the Olympics, I should expect to see the results of events if I go on a news web page. I asked him if they would've had the following headline 12 hours after The Sixth Sense came out:

SPOILERS IF YOU'RE THE ONE PERSON WHO DOESN'T KNOW THE ENDING...

Bruce Willis isn't as alive as he thought he was.

Just got an apologetic e-mail from the same guy. He thanked me for pointing out the rise in viewers using Tivo and DVRs and that they will mark their headlines accordingly.

Well it's better than the shallow, ostentatious, and arrogant cliche' of them on all the other channels.... isnt it ?
