They should go around 7-4. Hopefully the defense steps up this year and another big year from Vincent Marshall.

CUSA is like a minor league. The fact that the Cougars could win the whole thing shows what a joke it is. Cougars have been dead ever since UH was left out of the Big 12.

I went to the UH-Rice game last year at Reliant. Watching Rice spank UH was embarrassing. I've got no faith in Cougar football, regardless of how easy CUSA is.

I think Oklahoma, Miami, and Michigan got scared. 11-0. They can't escape playing us in the bowl games. Eventually they will face the fear.

I'm a Cougar, but hidden in the closet. :D

Football hasn't been great at UH since the late 80s/early 90s w/ the Run-and-Shoot. Basketball has sucked, but baseball has been pretty good for them.

My freshman year at UH in '96, now that's when they had a great year - 1st in Conference and going to a bowl game. Ever since then, the team has gone down the toilet (except 2003, but they still sucked).

But I heard this Kolb kid is pretty good. Let's see how he does. So far, UH QBs haven't fared very well in the NFL. :(

That was Kim, not Kam :) . Although I don't think Kim can go cold turkey.

CUSA is definitley not a Big 12, but I never said it was...Granted, do I wish we were, sure, but that's how it goes...Also, athletics at UH has been out of it for a while, I agree, but you still gotta love it, with Football, Basketball and Baseball on the rise...

After scoring all of those points in 2003 and then let Rice hold you to 7points was as low as it could get. I have a feeling they will blow Rice out this season.

The reason they were left out of the Big 12 is because of no fan support. The Cougars couldn't fill the Dome even when they had a Heismann on the team. I used to watch some good football teams in a practically empty stadium, and the losing seasons arrived.

I thought UH was left out because Ann Richards was a Baylor Bear, so baylor got in.

That was part of the politics that ended up shaping the four SWC schools heading to the Big 12. The economics of the situation though didn't lend itself to the Cougars even being considered. If the Cougars had stronger fan support at the time, I bet the SEC would have given them a call after the SWC went bellyup.

and in joining the Big XII, Baylor made a commitment to spend an ASSLOAD on facilities. they have.

I got my season tickets already, ready to go to every game. Two years ago, UH showed alot of promise, last year they fell off a bit. But with this schedule this year, I am thinking they should be on the upswing. Even if not, I am not going to abandon the team. It is alot of fun out there and the tickets are reasonably priced. But until they start winning consistently, I can't expect the masses to start caring about the program.

:confused:

They built a new baseball stadium, but what else have they done? The Ferrell Center has been there since the late 80's and Floyd Casey is the worst football stadium imaginable. There is absolutely no question that Ann Richards pushed Baylor through into the Big 12. They stick out like a sore thumb when you consider they are the only private school and have no success in money making sports. They are good at the fringe sports (womens BB, track, tennis), I'll give them that, and they had a nice run in baseball this year. That said, they are an embarrassment in football and basketball, well we won't even go there. Baylor won't even be allowed to play non-conference games in mens basketball this year.

Even though it's not related to them spending money after they were invited to the Big XII, the Ferrell Center is still one of the nicest basketball arenas in the conference. They have added state of the art sound systems and scoreboards to Floyd Casey Stadium as well as a new $2 million dollar locker room facility which is the largest in the country. They also added luxury suites and new press boxes since entering the Big XII.

Sure, they're the bottom of the Big XII when it comes to football and basketball. However, just a few years ago, you could say the same thing about Kansas in football. Now, they've been mentioned by some to have a chance of winning the Big XII North this year. While the South is far superior to the North, I think Baylor has finally decided to give a good coach more than just a couple of years to turn it around.

I'm not sure I'd call women's college basketball any more a fringe sport than men's college baseball either.

Kam

Baylor's women basketball wasn't that bad. They won it all.

Are you talking about Kansas Jayhawks? Man, anybody can win the North. I can win in the big XII north.

Baylor getting into the Big XII was laughably simple, conspiracy theories aside.

Texas=Austin
Texas A&M=College Station
Texas Tech=Lubbock
Baylor=Waco

The 4 left out?

U of H = Houston
Rice = Houston
TCU = Dallas/Ft. Worth
SMU = Dallas/Ft. Worth

Essentially, the cities with professional sports are notorious for lackluster fan bases with their college teams. Towns where college is King moved in to the Big XII.

Ann Richards and Bob Bullock forced Baylor into the Big 12. The story goes the SWC and Big 8 TV deals were about to expire. ABC could only offer 1 conference. Adding UT and A&M would make the Big 8 package more attractive. ABC then approached the Big 8 about adding two more schools for a football championship game (more money). Richards and Bullock would not let UT and A&M leave without taking Baylor. That left the only remaining stable program Texas Tech to get the last invite. Hence you have the Big 12.
