Actually, I will go with WWW for the Stro's, Oswalt is what? 12-0 against us? Pettite usually holds his own, and even though Duckworth is pitching for you guys, hes up against Harang, who sucks.

Ausmus falls below the drinking age limit.

Everret starts crying after his first at bat.

Garner goes AWOL after Sunday's lose.

Purpura decides to become the team's interim catcher until further notice.

Berkman's decides to sit this sorry season out and avoid any damage to his psyche.

We will lose if the offense continues like this. Clemens and Backe are better than Assmus and everett right now, how pathetic is that?

Before this season I never heard of the Red's 3rd baseman (Joe Randa) but he's lighting up the league so far.

If Griffey/Dunn start hitting watch out......

Wouldn't surprise me, Great American Ball Park is a very hitter friendly stadium, I expect Dunn might knock a few out as well.

Randa isn't going to hit 50hr's and bat .400 but he could put up much better numbers. He didn't have the quality of hitters around him in KC (Griffey, Dunn....)

Who said Duckworth is pitching? I have to believe there is still a good chance that Zeke will be called up to make that start Sunday. Maybe I missed an announcement, in which I will be very sad that they went with Duckworth.

It was in the Chronicle, actually.

Righthander Brandon Duckworth was told Thursday he likely will start Sunday against Cincinnati unless the Astros somehow need him in an emergency tonight. Because of two days off over the first two weeks of the seasons, the Astros don't need a fifth starter until Sunday.

"I'm starting (Sunday) unless something happens, as far as I know," Duckworth said.

If Duckworth isn't available, righthander Ezequiel Astacio or lefthander Wandy Rodriguez will come up from Class AAA Round Rock. Astacio threw seven scoreless innings of one-hit ball against the Iowa Cubs on Tuesday and is in line to start Sunday on regular rest. Rodriguez improved to 2-0 Wednesday by holding Iowa to six hits and three runs over five innings.

We FINALLY knock out a starting pitcher before he goes 6 innings... I don't believe we did that yet.

Also, Lane seems like a player who doesn't follow the typical Astros trend of everybody hot or everybody cold... and he's got the type of mentality at the plate that is to be aggressive on anything in the zone.

We'll have to wait it out the entire season... but remember that Jason Lane was one of Gerry's favorite players, and I strongly believe that it was the Biggio vs. Lane rift that probably led Gerry to give it up, and let Pupura handle Drayton's intentions... hell, he even introduced Pupura as "The Jason Lane of GM's."

He's been hurt for the majority of the last two seasons. He's still just 24, so he still has alot of time ahead of him.

I wouldn't mind having the Reds OF minus Griffey: Pena, Dunn and Kearns all really good hitters and Dunn is the oldest at 25.

I wouldn't mind having the Reds OF minus Griffey: Pena, Dunn and Kearns all really good hitters and Dunn is the oldest at 25.

Only problem with Dunn is that he strikes out like no other....well. I guess like Sosa does.

Anyways, I guess I would take him though considering how he hits when he makes contact.

Great job last night...although I still think we need Everett out of the leadoff spot...it was nice to finally see some production from a catcher as well.

I didn't see the game but was there any talk of why we used Lidge last night knowing Pettitte will be on his usual pitch count today? Did i see that right that he threw like 30 pitches?

According to mlb.com he only threw 16 pitches. I'm pretty sure they just wanted to give him some work since he hadn't pitched in a few days.

Ausmus is back in the line up today, with Burke playing left against the lefty Milton.

They hated the black jerseys because they were making them so damn hot, absorbing all the sun.

They haven't worn them since early 2001, when they decided to scrap them all-together for the Red ones. Now, the only difference is that the home reds say "Astros", and the road ones say "Houston".

I like the red. I also think that four uniforms is enough for one team to choose from (The pinstripes, the reds, the greys, and the all-white saturday homes w/ red caps).

Garner's thinking was probably if you're going to bust out of a slump, there's nothing like a fat 3-0 pitch right down the middle.

Adam just rolled over on it, but I was green-lighting him all the way as well... he normally handles fastballs pretty well.

Well, I gues the point is moot since they probably would have brought on Wagner to face Bagwell anyways.

Man... Wagner has always looked good against the Astros.. but I've seen him look flat-out awful when I watch any other game he ptiches in. I guess he's got it in for his home-town team, or he's in our heads... whatever it is, we make him look like another Lidge (which he's not).

He's not a power hitter and he's hitting cleanup. AE's not a leadoff hitter, and he's hitting leadoff.

All this, waiting for Berkman to heal and Willy to "be ready", and then the Astros will have a lineup that does not suck. I guess Garner wants Biggio to have the advantage of hitting in front of Bagwell while we wait for Willy to "be ready"? Because Biggio-Everett-Bagwell proved last year to be outstanding. So far, the reverse has been piss-poor (although it is quite early to say anything like that).

The throw was right on the money... but you're not going to get many people out period when your 2B is fielding a relay, and throwing home from the outfield... while a guy that runs well is motoring from first, seeing the play in front of him the whole time.

Lane is now on pace to hit 59 home runs and drive in 162 RBIs.

Slugging and OPS is healthy at 0.727 and 1.038 respectively so far but he is not walking. This has affected his OBP (0.311).

Lane, Qualls, Andy, Roger, Lidge and Bidge are the consistent bright spots so far. It is hard to watch now but I will continue to tune my dial to every Astros game and visit the park. For some reason I feel more passionate about this team than I have ever felt for any Houston team this decade. It hurts so bad but the great thing about baseball is that there is another game almost immediately to help erase the pain of a recent loss.

Well, I sort of agree with you. Ensberg is simply terrible right now. What does he think he sees when the pitch is thigh high right down the middle? I've never seen someone take so many called strikes when he's already got two. On the last one, he was lucky it didn't happen 1 pitch sooner on a close one on hte outside edge of the plate. It's getting pathetic. SWING THE FREAKING BAT! Unfortunately, Lamb isn't looking much better and he is a huge defensive liability. Maybe give Viz some starts at 3rd until Ensberg can get to the eye doctor.

Go Reds!!!!

I love Spring --- everyone is a contender.

The Nationals are kicking butt, the Yankees are in the basement.
Joe Randa is the best 3rd baseman in the NL

The bad part is when reality begins to settle in.
