View Full Version : Koran scholar: US will cease to exist in 2007

A thorough analysis of the Koran reveals that the US will cease to exist in the year 2007, according to research published by Palestinian scholar Ziad Silwadi.

The study, which has caught the attention of millions of Muslims worldwide, is based on in-depth interpretations of various verses in the Koran. It predicts that the US will be hit by a tsunami larger than that which recently struck southeast Asia

"The tsunami waves are a minor rehearsal in comparison with what awaits the US in 2007," the researcher concluded in his study. "The Holy Koran warns against the Omnipotent Allah's force. A great sin will cause a huge flood in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans."

Silwadi, who is from the village of Silwad near Ramallah – the home of Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal – is not a world-renowned scholar. He said he decided to publish the findings of his research "out of a sense of responsibility because what is about to happen is extremely shocking and frightening."

His fear, he said, is that the world economy, which relies heavily on the US dollar, would be deeply affected by the collapse of the US.

"It would be fair to say that the world would be better off with a US that is not a superpower and that does not take advantage of weak nations than a world where this country does not exist at all," he added."The world will certainly lose a lot if and when this disaster occurs because of the great services that American society has rendered to the economy, industry and science."

Silwadi said his study of the Koran showed that the US would perish mainly because of its great sins against mankind, including the Native Americans and blacks.

"As soon as the Europeans started arriving in the new world discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, they declared a war on the so-called Red Indians, the legitimate owners of the land," he wrote. "Then they began enslaving and humiliating Africans after kidnapping them from their countries and bringing them to America. Millions of blacks were brought to the US and treated with unprecedented harshness. Those who became ill during the journey were thrown overboard to feed the fish."

Silwadi pointed out that the US continued to commit war crimes and "ethnic cleansing" against humanity by becoming the first country to use nuclear weapons during World War II.

"International law penalizes such crimes," he said. "If these laws were not applied then, they are certainly implemented in heaven. If no one on earth is capable of punishing [the US], Allah was and remains able to do so. All these actions have been documented by Allah in a big archive called the Koran."

Silwadi said he reached the conclusion that several suras (chapters) in the Koran that talk about punishment for those who perpetrate heinous sins actually refer to the US.

As an example, he quotes in his study verse 40 of the Spider Sura, which states: "So each We [God] punished for his sin; of them was he on whom We sent down a violent storm, and of them was he whom the rumbling overtook, and of them was he whom We made to be swallowed up by the earth, and of them he whom We drowned; and it did not beseem Allah that He should be unjust to them, but they were unjust to their own souls."

Drawing parallels between Pharaoh and the US, who share the same "sin" of arrogance and excessive pride, Silwadi noted that the Koran mentions at least 12 times the fact that Pharaoh was punished by drowning for his evil deeds.

The Narrative Sura, he noted, clearly suggests that the US will drown in the sea: "And Firon [Pharaoh] said: O chiefs! I do not know of any god for you besides myself; therefore kindle a fire for me And he was unjustly proud in the land, he and his hosts, and they deemed that they would not be brought back to Us. So We caught hold of him and his hosts, then We cast them into the sea, and see how was the end of the unjust [verses 38-40]."

Explaining his theory about the approaching extinction of the US, the scholar went on to analyze many numbers and letters mentioned in the Koran. He said a careful reading and analysis of words appearing in the Opening and Yusuf suras show that the US will exist for only 231 years.

How did he reach that number? Silwadi said that by combing a number of suras hinting at US sins he reached the numbers 1776 (the year the US achieved independence) and 231. He added the two numbers and the result was 2007, the year when the US is expected to disappear.

In his lengthy study, which is being circulated in many Muslim countries, Silwadi noted that the US has often been compared to a tree that grows very quickly and bears fruit, but has no roots.

In an attempt to find a reference to this metaphor in the Koran, Silwadi said he counted 1776 verses from the beginning of the Koran until he reached verse 26 of the Ibrahim Sura, which states: "And the parable of an evil word is as an evil tree pulled up from the earth's surface; it has no stability."

Since the Koran says the US will cease to exist in 2007, and the Muslim faith is based on the infallibility of the Koran (unchanged since it's revelation to Mohammed, etc.) will all the Muslims pick a new religion when the US is still around in 2008?

Isaac Newton predicted world would end in 2060 (http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/1046029105331_30/?hub=SciTech)

Associated Press

Updated: Sun. Feb. 23 2003 4:12 PM ET

JERUSALEM — Sir Isaac Newton predicted the world would come to an end 57 years from now, a TV network says, based on a document unearthed from a Jerusalem archive by a Canadian researcher.

Newton's sombre prediction is part of the documentary Newton: The Dark Heretic. In a statement promoting the program, to be aired March 1, the British Broadcasting Corp. said it will show a handwritten Newton document predicting the end of the world in 2060, according to calculations he made based on the Bible.

The BBC said the document was found in a Newton collection in the Jewish National Library in Jerusalem.

Raphael Weiser, director of the library's manuscripts and archives department, said Sunday that Canadian academic Stephen Snobelen had worked extensively on its Newton collection and had brought a BBC camera crew with him, but Weiser said he had not seen whatever document the program intended to present as evidence.

"They came here two months ago with a researcher from Nova Scotia," Weiser said Sunday. "He found in one of our folios this note and they are going to show it on their program."

Snobelen, of the University of King's College in Halifax, could not be reached on Sunday.

Weiser said he could not confirm the manuscript's contents or authenticity until it is revealed in the BBC film.

"I didn't see it with my own eyes," he said. "When they show it on TV, we will see it."

Newton, who died in 1727, won immortality for formulating the law of gravity, but he was also a theologian who wrote well over a million words on biblical subjects and was influenced by Hebrew scripture, according to academic articles on his work.

The BBC statement said he studied the Bible for more than 50 years, trying to unravel what he believed were God's secret laws of the universe.

The Israeli daily Maariv said the documents now in Jerusalem were discovered in England at the home of the Duke of Portsmouth and put on sale at the London auction house, Sotheby's, in 1930.

The buyer, named by the paper as Abraham Yehuda, later donated the collection to the Jewish National Library, it said.

Weiser said the library has never fully examined its wealth of Newton manuscripts.

"We have thousands of volumes of Newton," he said. "We haven't researched it all."

Yes. Two tsunamis that head towards each other.

Brilliant!

(BTW, don't blame the Koran ... it's just one interpretation, just like Newton's of the Bible)

God: (standing on a chair behind Noah, he rings a bell once) NOAH.
Noah: (Looks up) Is someone calling me? (Shrugs and goes back to his work)
God: (Ding) NOAH!!
Noah: Who is that?
God: It's the Lord, Noah.
Noah: Right ... Where are ya? What do ya want? I've been good.
God: I want you to build an ark.
Noah: Right ... What's an ark?
God: Get some wood and build it 300 cubits by 80 cubits by 40 cubits.
Noah: Right ... What's a cubit?
God: Well never mind. Don't worry about that right now. After you build the
ark, I want you to go out into the world and collect all the animals of the
world, two by two, male and female, and put them into the ark.
Noah: Right ... Who is this really? What's going on? How come you want me to
do all these weird things?
God: I'm going to destroy the world.
Noah: Right ... Am I on Candid Camera? How are you gonna do it?
God: I'm going to make it rain for a thousand days and drown them right out.
Noah: Right ... Listen, do this and you'll save water. Let it rain for forty
days and forty nights and wait for the sewers to back up.
God: Right...

Narrator: So Noah began to build the ark. Of course his neighbors were not
too happy about it. Can you imagine leaving for the office at 7 AM and
seeing an ark?

Neighbor: (enters whistling, with brief case) Hey! You over there.
Noah: What do you want?
Neighbor: What is this thing?
Noah: It's an ark.
Neighbor: Uh huh, well you want to get it out of my driveway? I've gotta get
to work. Hey listen, what's this thing for anyway?
Noah: I can't tell you, ha ha ha.
Neighbor: Can't you even give me a little hint?
Noah: You want a hint?
Neighbor: Yes, please.
Noah: Well, how long can you tread water? Ha ha ha

Let's see, only the U.S. coastlines in the Pacific and Atlantic will be affected by these large waves? Impossible.

Say a large asteroid entered earth's atmosphere, broke in two with one part hitting in the Atlanctic and one part hitting in the Pacific. While both would create devastating waves, those same waves would wipe out the coasts of Europe, Africa, South America, Mexico, Central America, the Carribbean islands, Japan and who knows who else. Seems like the waves would be taking out most of Western Civiliazation, not just the "great satan".

Well it just goes to show that religious wackos come in all stripes.

Didn't the Maya predict that the world would end in 2012? Perhaps we need to start placing bets on which year the world will end.

Just for fun though I'll play along.

Two giant tsunamis need not be spawned by asteroids because there already is existing tsunami dangers. On the Atlantic there is the possibility that one of the Canary islands could collapse into the ocean that would spawn a massive tsunami headed towrds the US East Coast. It might not hit Europe that hard because the orientation of force would be towards deep water in the direction of the US. There could also be a major eruption along the mid-Atlantic ridge or on one of the volcanic Carribean islands. On the Pacific side a massive undersea earthquake hits near Japan but in a way to direct its force towards the US West coast.

Lets say there's disasters simultaneously in both Atlantic and Pacific. While those would cause massive devestation they wouldn't be able to wipe out the US. Why because the US is huge and conveniently has mountain ranges relatively near both coast that would sheild off the vast majority of the country.

Devestating yes but to quote Morgan Freeman from Deep Impact "We will survive.."

Yep, the dude just had Tsunami's on the brain because of the Al Jazera news cycle. As bad as the recent Tsunami was, it effected what, like 1/2 mile inland from the coast. That's pretty wimpy on the Destuction Of Civilization As We Know It scale.

That's pretty much gonna require The Plague, a Super Volcano, an Asteroid or a Nukuler Holocost.

If you want to put the fear of god in us you need think outside the box.

This dude really needs to study his history a bit more and quit blaming the US for all the worlds problems. We have helped far more nations then any other country and asked for virtually nothing in return.

I agree that we have done a lot for the world and that we are not to blame for all problems abroad, but you might find it interesting to read the history and current news from other perspectives besides the American one. The American perspective will always tell you that we were the good guys and did nothing wrong, but this view is just our own. There are other perspectives that are out there. A lot of things you might read or hear from non-US citizens will shed new light on this 'nothing in return' idea.

I'm not saying that we are wrong or right to think the way we do, but reading more than one country's view will give you a far truer opinion of America, both good and bad. Look at the way that Charles Barkley was covered by Houston news before and after he came to Houston. We, as Rockets fans, became homers and loved him. That had a lot to do with the propaganda on Charles we were seeing on the news. The same goes for American media and our nation's history. The American media are just another bunch of homers. So, we don't show the bad stuff about ourselves.

I do not understand how people can diss the kuran, and truly believe in the bible. Both are books from the past written by man, in which the will of their god is written. So both have the same credability.

Anyways, he's a wacko and seems to be more interested in getting attention and selling books, which he will probably do.

As for taking 'digs' at the Koran for the crap this guy is making up, I can't believe some people would stoop that low (Chance and StupidMoniker?!! i dont think he can be called a scholar if hes counting the number of letters in the quran and deriving something like this. Especially since counting letters are not part of deciphering the quran. And more so, the quran that you see today is not in the order that it was revealed, so if he counted those numbers according to the way it was given to the prophet (pbuh) hed have a different verse...

and more than that... i cant believe you guys take every peice of article so seriously without further research...

I don't see the correlation. Please explain.

The Millerites tried to use specific verses from their holy book, the Bible, to predict the exat date for the end of the world. Several times. They sat on hilltops waiting for the end of the world. It never came. They were sad. Everybody laughed at them for their hubris.

Look at the reference book at the bottom -

Expecting Armageddon: Essential Readings in Failed Prophecy by Jon R. Stone.
