Jerry Falwell in Critical Condition
LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Rev. Jerry Falwell was hospitalized with breathing difficulties Tuesday and listed in critical condition, Lynchburg General Hospital said in a statement.
Doctors said Falwell was on a ventilator and his condition had stabilized.
Falwell, 71, was back in the hospital a month after battling pneumonia.
I am not a cruel person by any stretch of the imagination. However, I feel no compassion for Jerry Falwell at all. I wasn't sure if this was the right forum to post this in. However, this "person" stirs up so much controversy, I thought it was fitting.

I have no respect for someone who blamed gays, liberals, and drug addicts for 9/11. The day he dies, I will hoist a martini and celebrate.

That's like hoping for an injury to befall the opposing player; bush league.

something about the juxtaposition of [SOURCE] and thread title seems a trifle overly celebratory...

I'm a Christian and he makes it tough for me to say that... I don't mean him any ill-will, but he was never the sharpest tool in the shed.

Jerry Falwell = Michael Moore.
They both cancel each other out with their outrageous claims.
And I wouldn't be celebrating the day Moore died, either.

To be a bit more accurate...
Michael Moore = Bill O'Reilly
Jerry Falwell = Al Sharpton
Still cancel each other out, just with other people.

Very true. Besides, Falwell has always craved attention... the worst thing anyone could do to him is just ignore what's happening. I am.

Falwell has not brought a lot of "good" attention to those who share my faith. He's characterized it in a very public way that makes it very unappealing to others. He's mischaracterized Christ, as best I can tell. I'm not a fan, in any way, shape or form.
Having said that...it's very difficult for me to root for anyone's demise. All of us have regrets. All of us will face death. I can find sympathy for that, even if I don't like the man.

Cheers Max...can't stand the fella myself of the followers of his ilk...death is the great equalizer and I know I wouldn't want anyone celebrating the day I perish.

I wasn't hoping for it to happen nor am I rooting for his death. He's not someone I tend to put any thought to. When I saw the article, it just made me think that I really have no compassion for him just like he has no compassion for gays, jews, muslims...well, basically anyone and everyone that doens't think the way he does.

compassion isn't just for those who are compassionate.
compassion shouldn't be for the sake of compassion. not for the sake of retribution.

It is difficult to wish that someone would die, but it is less difficult when the person in question spread bigotry and hatred in the guise of Christianity. It is also less difficult when the person you wish dead has caused the deaths of others, i.e. Osama Bin Laden. I wish that sumbitch would die also.
