They haven't come on yet, but they will be on. Yao and T-Mac have apparently just walked in on this "player availability" day for the media.
As soon as they come on (I am not sure when), I will recap, promise!;)

<<sidenote>> Shawn Marion has no sense of humor, apparently, he took that comment about his shot being "ugly" a bit seriously I think. It was a joke, man!

Yeah, and what's up with Amare's "San Antonio is the most surprising opponent team"?
T-mac.... obviously still very happy about the trade.
Yao - "He saved my EAR by winning that game..." (Speaking about the spurs game).
Maybe the english isn't all the way there yet... (or maybe it is, and he's just too damn witty).

Yeah, I think he meant the long speech he would've got from JVG if that had lost that game.

Probably because San Antonio came back from something like 18 points down in the 4th quarter to beat the Suns in Phoenix.

Yao - "He saved my EAR by winning that game..." (Speaking about the spurs game).
One of his ears is not functional well and Yao was making fun of himself in indicating that if we had lost the game, JVG would have shouted so loudly that Yao would be totally deaf.;)

Actually Amare means the performance of Manu in that game imo.

Alright, here we go...
Aldridge: We have a couple of all-stars from the Rocket, T-Mac and Yao. Yao are you excited to be here again?
Yao: Of course, I am excited about the vote and thank the fans.
Aldridge: Now that you have a new teammate, excited for him too?
T-Mac (looking at Yao): You betta be!:)
Yao: He is not new right now, we already played 50 games together (jokingly says it).
Aldridge: For you Tracey, coming over in the trade from Orlando, which was a news in itself, but then coming to a team with Yao?
T-Mac: Actually, it has been a great adjustment for me, I defer to him at times to relieve pressure off me scoring wise, and he has been doing a great job of relieving that pressure off me.
Aldridge: Before the season started, we had China games, so T-Mac, can anybody who has not been on this trip to China, understand what this man means to his country?
T-Mac (laughing): no, not at all. If anybody has ever seen the Beatles, Jay-Z, Brad Pitt, all those guys together, that is him.
Aldridge to Yao: How has that been for you Yao?
Yao: no choice (laughing)
Aldridge: T-Mac, coming in you know you will be playing for one of the toughest coaches in the league, how has it been playing for JVG?
T-Mac: You know what, he just wants you to be prepared coming into the game, he is precise about everything, everything! But he is a great teacher, he is a great motivator, I have never been more prepared coming into each game.
Aldridge: when we go back to the Spurs game, Yao, your teammate scores 13 points in 35 seconds to win the game. Yao, what was it like watching that happen?
Yao: It is amazing, you know. At that time I just wanted to go home, go to sleep, and then wake up in the morning and see coach yellin gat us (smiling), he saved us, he saved our ears (from the yelling)
Aldridge: T-Mac, again, one game does not mean the season or anything, but again, do you really appreciate yet what you did in that game?
T-Mac: (reluctantly) I guess you have no choice, when I did it I did not realize what I just did, and it took me a couple of times to watch that on SportsCenter to realize what I did. Again, you take me in the GYM and put 35 seconds on teh clock, I don't think I can duplicate that.
Aldridge: It was unbelievable! So what do you two need to do in the 2nd half of the season to make sure the Rockets are where they need ot be at?
Yao: To do whatever we are doing right now, we got better in the last 20-25 games, and we are playing the right way, we just need to do the same thing and prepare for every game.
Aldridge: last Q, you guys deserve being here as all-stars, but again the Bob Suras, the Jon Barrys...
T-Mac: It is very important, and these guys are doing their jobs, they are the reason we are playing well, they are the reason we are on a 8-game winning streak. They are professionals, those guys come to play every night, and they have the mental toughness to keep us in the game, and we trust them to bring it every night.
Aldridge: Alright, Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady All-Stars, thanks for being with NBATV, and enjoy it, ok?

I don't think anyone has to shout anymore. I noticed that Yao wore an ear piece or rather "hearing aid" in the last game against Washington. Did anyone else notice it?

They were just resenting the reality of how good Yao will become
They were in aww of Yao;)
Barkley on PTI now... also they are going to talk about a lot of NBA teams including the Rockets.

Barkley lost his voice, good God;)
BTW, They will talk about the Rockets in this show towards the end!
Too much Rockets talk, I am getting dizzy:)
Wilbon ranked the Rockets as No.5 as a title contender, Korneiser replaced it with the Suns, and Wilbon said "you had to hate Yao Ming". LOL
tigermission1
02-18-2005, 04:57 PM
Here is what they said about the Rockets on PTI:
WOW!
Korenheiser: In the playoffs in a 7-game series, I don't think Yao Ming can dominate
Wilbon: He doesn't have to dominate, Tracy McGrady can do that, he only needs to play well for the Rockets to win.
Final "Food Chain" Ranking (for Wilbon)
1) Spurs
2) Pistons
3) Mavs
4) Heat
5) Rockets:eek:
Wilbon gave a lotta love for the Rockets, and when Korenheiser removed the Rockets from the "Food Chain" board (similar to power rankings), Wilbon told him, while holding a Rockets banner in front of the camera, "You just had to hate on Yao, didn't you?":D
It was very short, but funny segment. They were basically trying to rank teams and predict how they will fare in the playoffs. Wilbon thinks the Rockets will do well.

wow #3 in the west basically...its been like 10 years since we had htis much respect, and not even, cuz during our championship years everyone always put us down.
tigermission1
02-18-2005, 05:16 PM
Do you guys think we are getting this much respect not just because of the winning streak, but because we have had many games on National TV this year? Is it the nationally televised Spurs-Rockets game in which the "MacMiracle" was performed?
I can't ever remember the Rockets getting this much attention and respect from the media, although it bothers me a bit because if we slow down a bit (which is bound to happen by this difficult schedule we have), then it will set us up for disappointment. Look at the T-Wolves for example.
hotballa
02-18-2005, 05:24 PM
the respect comes from the winning streak. The hating on the Rox earlier was probably because of the national exposure
The_Yoyo
02-18-2005, 05:30 PM
good pti recap as well, wilbon has a lot of love for yao as he said he would be a good player in the league when he was drafted. to be put at 5 on his chart is saying something because of out the other teams on there the rockets could be the least experienced (possibly the heat, but they have #32 which makes up for a lot and now with zo as a backup) and one of the biggest roster turnovers from the previous season. good to see hopefully the rockets can keep up the pace they are on
PhiSlammaJamma
02-18-2005, 06:00 PM
PTI will love rockets for at least another month because A) They are DC folk and we smoked them by 30, and B) all the rockets are from the DC area (file that one away). So we should get some good airplay until next month.

We better enjoy it now...while it last. With the tough scedule coming up, those much needed respect could disappear real quick.

If you're not a Rockets fan, you got to hate Rockets for all the national TV exposure they get. This was a team that could barely make the playoff in the West (before their recent 8-game win streak). On top of that, Yao had just got to be most overhapped and overrated player in the history of NBA....
By the way, the Rockets games will start to bombard the national TV again in March, you will have Rockets on ABC every Sunday, plus occasional games on TNT, ESPN and NBA TV if it counts as national TV.

No, he meant EAR.
Later in the interview he says, " It is amazing, you know. At that time I just wanted to go home, go to sleep, and then wake up in the morning and see coach yelling at us (smiling), he saved us, he saved our ears (from the yelling)"
It might be a Chinese expression for "saved me from getting yelled at."
Any Chinese speakers around?

you totally missed the point of my post. the guy was saying the rockets sucked before they won 8 in a row. my point was that it doesn't matter what you were doing before you start winning as long as you keep winning...i never suggested that the rockets were going to go 43-0 to finish the season and win the world championship....
