Hi Y'all,
I'm in my mid twenties and I'm not bald or anything like that but my family has a history of thinning hair so I was wondering if anybody can suggest any products that actually work: like Propecia, Proscar, Saw Palmetto, Rogaine etc. I thought I get some if I start thinning.Thanks.

Hair loss?
Please think positively - it's Scalp Gain or SG for short.

I think I asked a similar question about 2 years ago (sometime between June 2002 and the end of 2002). I remember a poster gave some really good advice. He discussed the few most popular hair growing products in details. I don't know how you can find the thread though.

After posting that picture I guess I should submit something of value to this thread. (http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42069)

Rub peanut butter in your hair, massage it through with a vigorous steel-tooth combing, and then rinse it off with lots of jalapeno juice. Repeat.

Amen! And if you can't stand to go all the way just yet, just start cutting your hair really short. The shorter it is, the better it looks.
I've been going with the 1/4" buzz for a few years now, and I'm probably gonna switch to a straight razor this summer.

Nair or is that spelled Nare?
You can go that route or you can use hot wax.

saw palmetto actually has some legitimate science behind it. Most of the research involves prostate enlargement, but there has been some positive research on hair loss, and the two issues do share similar metabolic pathways. It would probably be the least troublesome way to start a treatment, since it is relatively cheap, you can get it OTC at any drugstore for about $10 a bottle, and it's easy to take - usually oraly twice daily.

Yeah, I did a little research and I think saw palmetto is best and cheapest way to go- basically you have to block dht from forming or something like that. The saw will cost like 6 bucks a month while the expensive stuff like propecia would cost like 60 dollars a month. I still have a full set of hair so I'm more concern about maintaining the hair instead of restoring it (which is odd because there still isn't a medicine out there that can effectively restore a good amount of hair).
Anyways, thanks Ottomaton, arkoe, and all the Dave Chappelles for the advice.

Don't sweat it and just try and slow the loss down for now. Stem cells may cure baldness in the not too ditant future (they've already grown hair on 'bald' mice).
