He is very high energy and is a real fan favorite in Oakland. His stats have improved in each of the last three seasons. I'm not really sure how great his defense is, but he does have better than average speed.

According to the link below he is being discussed in trade with several teams...I'd prefer him over any of the other names being discussed at the moment...not to mention he is pretty cheap.

Not a bad idea. He has a nice glove and he can hit you 20+ homers.

maybe we can get him back along with Dotel to set up Lidge

It would definitely be better then getting Burnitz, I don't know if he is even on the Astros radar though.

Qualls/Harville - Dotel - Lidge
Is Guillermo Mota available?

Pretty sure Florida's counting on Mota to close for them.
Jim Mecir tops my list for RP help. Chris Hammond is excellent, but I wonder if he's too old. Ricky Bottalico is a FA who had a good 2004. Paul Shuey is a good reliever who missed last season. Jay Powell(remember him?) is alright. Robb Nen wants to pitch again, he might be worth signing to a very incentive-laden deal. Jeff Nelson's done.

I always thought he was solid with the Yanks.....awesome change up and he's a lefty that can get righties out
Nen might be worth a shot if he came cheap

Yea, I was thinking that someone's gonna give Nen a chance if his arm looks ok. And Hammonds is 38, but he's one of those late career guys who might carve out another great year or two. Sub-3.00 eras the last three seasons.

Hammond signed with San Diego.
1 year deal worth $750,000.
